Do teens overuse the word 'love'?

I'm just curious...I know love is different for many people...but the way I see love is not 'falling' for the person...but actually 'being' with the person they love...what I mean to say is...seeing that person everyday and generally not getting annoyed with them, cooking for the person, getting groceries together and running errands on weekends...studying together...meeting the parents and hanging out with them...

I have this with my bf that I've been with for a while now, and we're going to graduate college soon...and planning a future...I've had my share of 'teen' loves but this just...feels...like love...this is maintaining a real relationship, you know? What do teens feel about this? I feel the word 'love' is being used too easily nowadays...sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone...I'm Juliette by the way....

Do teens overuse the word 'love'?
I guess i sort of agree with you. But most the time if teens say to their boyfriend or girlfriend "i love you", the other may understand they don't mean love love, they just mean have strong feelings for. And i often say to my friends i love them, but obviously i dont mean love love xDDD hehe

This is just what i think =]
Reply:Yup, i think many do.

Though, im SURE im not, as me and my now fiance have been together 4 years, and about to have a baby, so i know i love him =]
Reply:yes. It's very overatted. The best you can REALLY say without making up your mind is REALLY like.

I know soem kids who do it. It's ridiculous. But if you are out of highschool, it's acceptable I feel.

Love isnt the only overated word. So is Hate.

Hate is a strong word even when one does not mean it, but not as bad since Love is thrown around like its NOTHING.

Whats up with the '...'? Whatever. Doesnt matter.
Reply:YES teens use love tooooo ofton and dont ever mean it. They say it to every crush, and every bf/gf. You will know when your in love, you will feel it. I think that all these teens throw it around too much and dont know the true meaning of it.
Reply:HONEY YOUR IN LOVE.perfectly normal at this age..most couples meet in college..good place for it in my opinion.

TEENs have no idea what love truely is..but when i say teen i think of HIGH SCHOOL

college is a whole new level. its when you do truely fall in love
Reply:Yes! It's ridiculous! It's so annoying. When teens have a crush on eachother, their friends are like, "Then go out!" They do, but they don't. They don't do anything. It's so pointless.
Reply:I definitely think so. I've been there and done that though. I'm 16, turning 17 in August, and my fiance and I have been together for awhile now and I'm also 5 weeks pregnant. We're getting married in August. I can honestly say that I love him more than anything in this whole world possible and mean it though.
Reply:yea i agree with this and im 14 ..

like i notice ppl go 'i love u " to a guy they met the day before. i think wen we say it its more like ur a really good friend. Or u think ull be relly good friends.

=]
Reply:I feel it's being overused to, and so is the word "hate"

people just throw those words around like its nothing, like theres no emotion behind it. Idk It's hard to explain.

:]
Reply:yes. i'm thirteen and my friends had a crush on this guy fr like 2 months and shes all like "omg i'm soooooooo in love with him" and its like no ur not ur in 7th grade get real.
Reply:Yeah, I think alot of teens overreact about certain people and claim they're "in love".

My friends do it all the time with their boyfriends but there's really nothing I can do about it except laugh to myself at them.

:)
Reply:Hi Juliette,

I am one of many teens who over use the word 'love'.

I dont see it as a fault, or even a problem, But i do understand where most of you are coming from.

Love doesnt mean all that much to be, Because personally ive never been in love, but maybe thats because I am only 15.

I guess i feel its ok to tell people you love me, but i mean its not like i ran up to any random person on the street and say "I LOVE YOU!", even though im sure it may brighten up their day, haha.

Im glad you found love though, Maybe one day when im older and wiser I will find someone and settle down :)
Reply:Love is something that takes a while to learn the complete meaning of. I'm never going to forget the demonstration my creative writing gave our class back in high school about the term "love." He shut off all the lights and turned on a tiny flashlight, then a little desk lamp, next a standing one, then the over head and finally the ceiling lights. It was a perfect example of how things need to develop. Teenagers may think that they're in love... until they actually are!
Reply:I'm in love with my boyfriend. No doubt about it. He brought me my unborn baby and I also love her to death already.

But I do agree that it is being overused. As well with the word 'hate'.
Reply:they do actually; i dont throw that word around unless i mean it. theirs these little freshman kids that go out for a day at my school and their already like..

" OMG; I LOVE YOU ! "

and begin to start sucking face in the halls.

gross.
Reply:i think they over use it
Reply:i think that teens find someone that appreciates them in a way nobody else has before.they've never been so flattered and felt the way they are so they refer to "love "because usually thats that one feeling you discover on your own and can't describe.however, in some cases [most cases but not ALL] thats not love.like i said its some type of appreciation for a person.in time, when love does hit them and they really "fall" not "trip" into love they see the difference.everyone eventually learns it.

soo, yes they do throw it around because they're under the illusion that they are actually in love

GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOURS %26lt;3
