Parents and Teens: Have you been honest?

Parents, have you been completely honest with you teenage son or daughter?

And Teens, have you been completely honest with you parents?

When it comes to a teenagers weekly activities, parents are often clueless of what their children are really doing until something happens. Like alcohol poisoning, an unexpected pregnancy, or a call from the police in the middle of the night. But have you ever wondered what your parents were hiding from you? My parents for instance never told me that they were going to abort my eldest brother. (Thank God they didn't) So parents what are some things that you have never told your children and teens what are some things that you have never and may never tell you parents?

Parents and Teens: Have you been honest?
I'm a mom, but so far my 13 year old has been honest with me. I always request to know where she is at all times, who she's with, etc. so I know how to contact her if necessary. My daughter and I have already had "the talk" and she knows to wait for marriage. She's promised that she will not take one drink or smoke or hang out with the wrong crowd. I couldn't be prouder of her!
Reply:my parents dont really know me so its easy to get away with things without even having to lie.....

also i just found out some MAJOR family secrets which i really didnt want to find out the way i did, actually i wish i didnt find out all together, its obv. my parents aint honest with me so why shoudl i bother with them?
Reply:im honest to a certain extent like i tell her where ill be but she doesnt need to know exactly what im doing...i just a personal person and i dont think she has to be in my buisness about my relationships im a good girl and i love her but there some things i would just not tell her due to her not trusting me
Reply:There aren't any secrets between me and my Mommy. We tell eachother everything and she's really cool. ♥

My Dad? He smacks me around for not doing anything wrong! I can't tell him anything, I only see him once a month b/c he works out of town but whenever I talk to him on the phone all he does is yell at me for being born. He's REALLY mean. :(
Reply:I am proud to say I have been very honest with my parents. Most of the time I am at home doing school work, I really want to get into USC, so school comes first right now. I know better than to get mixed up in the wrong crowd, because I actually want to do something with my life. For the most part I think they have been honest with me too.
Reply:Yes i Have i love them Very Much
Reply:I haven't been completely honest with my parents. But not with big things. Like I would tell my mom that I was going to my god parents house, and I would go there for like 5 minutes and then go to my friend's house. My parents don't tell me everything, but it doesn't really bother me.
Reply:Well I am 13 and I do thinks that my parents don't know...

1. Have boyfriends, kissing, ect.

2. text on my phone when I am supposed to be studying or sleeping

3. porn (girls just want to have fun sleepovers, only with my bffs)

4. lie about random stuff that I dont want my parents to know about my life.
Reply:i am home everyday. my parents know what i am doing. they are verprotective and wont let me hang around my friends.
Reply:I've never lied to my parents about where I was going or doing that I can think of. I've never done drugs, shoplifted,or anything either, and my friends wouldn't do such things. So no, I don't have any big secrets I've been hiding from them. And congratulations (about your user-name).
Reply:I'm almost never honest wit my parents
Reply:I haven't been completely honest with everything, but I haven't been doing anything really wrong.

I am 18, a senior in high school. I keep about a 3.6 GPA and am in all honors courses.

I have had a few things to drink in the past few years that my dad doesn't "know" about, but he probably guesses that I have tried it at least.

The only thing that I am 99% sure he has no clue about is losing my virginity, but that happened in December with my boyfriend that I plan to marry. We did use protection and I am on the pill, so my dad would not be mad about that.

I find that it's really hard for me to talk to my dad. My parents divorce when I was 9 and then my dad divorced my stepmom when I was 17 and my dad and I moved into an apartment together. I've never been close to either of my parents because they didn't foster a close relationship when I was really young. I don't blame them though, because they were young parents and did the best they knew how.
Reply:I talk to my mom about everything, even when my boyfriend and I madeout my mom knew about it. We have a really good relationship with each other, she doesnt judge me when I talk to her and she actually gives me really good advice about everything
Reply:Im 14. %26amp; from experience, i havent told my mum my EVERY move, but i know she hasnt told me hers. We're kind of close, but not totally. Im not having sex, drinking, smoking, fighting, doing drugs, stealing (not any more, but thats another story), or doing anything illegal. so theres no problem in my opinion. My mum trusts me. I hope when i do have a child, that she/he trusts me too. Its all about trust really, and without it, a family isnt truely a proper family at all.
Reply:Me and my mom have a very open relationship. She tells me everything and I tell her everything; I've even told her things that I didn't want to tell her.
Reply:I am not always honest with my parents but its never about serious stuff.....its always little stuff like cleaning my room. My parents havent been completely honest with me but I always fing out the truth anyways.
Reply:I know teen parents whose kids are now teens, and some even grown up and married. Some of these parents are keeping constant tabs on their kids. They aren't stupid. These kids are also staying out of trouble and not getting pregnant as teens. The ones who are "trusting" their kids are the ones who are becoming young grandparents, parents of drug addicts, etc. Either they "trust" them, or they figure they are going to have sex, do this or that, anyway, so why not just go ahead and pay for birth control, etc. instead of putting their foot down, and PARENTING their kids.
Reply:I have a great relationship with my parents, but that is because we talk and nothing is awkward because I know that they will love me no mater what. Yea sure there are things that parents aren't going to tell their kids, and vice versa but (seeing that you are going to be a parent soon) my advice to you is just be understanding and have good reasonable rules. Good luck!
Reply:I made out with this hot guys.
Reply:sometimes
Reply:Yeah, I'm always honest.

I'm 13 and I've never drank, smoke, done drugs or had sex.

I'm proud of it too. (:
Reply:Nope. I won't tell my parents about what happens on friday and saturday nights.
Reply:I've had sex with four boys in the space of a few months and given heads to two of them and i've fell pregnant twice and of course had abortions my parents dont know a thing
