Today's teens could benefit from listening to Classic Rock & Motown?

Sometimes I feel like today's teens have no clue about where the music they listen to came from. Classic rock and Motown are the true inspirations for today's popular music. I think we should subject our children and teens to the music that gave birth to todays mainstream Rock %26amp; Roll and R%26amp;B. Don't you think so?

Today's teens could benefit from listening to Classic Rock %26amp; Motown?
Yup. They hear samples from current hip hop tunes %26amp; have no clue they're usually from great ORIGINAL songs from the 60s - 80s. Of course, they *couldn't* have a clue simply b/c they didn't live it....That's where WE enter the picture to clue them in.

Because if I hear ONE more 70s tune used in some tv commercial only to have some kid say - Hey! It's the ___(name product here)_____song!"
Reply:I agree, I am 15 and listen to classic rock and rap really annoys me.
Reply:Yah i agree im 16 years old and many kids my age dont know who the tempatations are or the beach boys or elo are and im thankfull that my dad realy did help with exposing me to such great classic music
Reply:no there better of lissing to rap
Reply:I think that you should check your generalization of the term 'today's teens'. I am one of your teens, and I have a passion for Classic Rock, not too mention Jazz and Classical music. I do agree with you that many people really need to hear some actual music, but grouping 'today's teens' into one ignorant bunch is just that, ignorant.
Reply:I agree with you 100%
Reply:Yes they should, and not just classic rock, but all sorts of music
Reply:If they only knew that 99 percent of what they listen to is a blatant ( and horrible) ripoff of the originals...especially rap and hip-hop..

when these guys call themselves "musicians" I laugh..

Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, etc. are rolling in their graves!!
Reply:i agree kids need to know how important Elvis and The Beatles were to modern music.
Reply:Yes, because rap is just filling their head with crap!
Reply:If thry are going to be musicians, then they shoudln't definitely learn the history of music. If not, then let them listen to whatever they want to.
