Teens...what should I do for a halloween party?

Ok...since my b-day is pretty close to Halloween, I usually have a halloween/b-day party. I want to get other teens opinions on halloween parties. Would you rather have a sleepover and watch a scary movie? Or would you rather dress up in costumes and just walk around the neighborhood? Tell me what you would like to do at a halloween party1

Teens...what should I do for a halloween party?
Combine it all. Have a sleepover and in the evening go out and walk around the neighborhood and try to get candy. Then around eleven PM or so watch the scary movies and throw popcorn. You can have a costume contest in between.
Reply:have a halloween party in the day and go out at night, that way u will all ready be dressed in costume and itl keep them busy.make jelly horror hands,by putting jelly in a rubber glove and let it set in the fridge.if a finger drops off thats even better adds a bit of horror, get some orange and black balloons and put them all over the room(wherever the party is)and buy a cd with scary sounds to give it that extra feeling.make it look like a propper haunted place, cobwebs, dull lighting, spiders, ghosts.
Reply:the sleepover and scary movie sounds like more fun

i love horror movies, and think they're awesome around halloween
Reply:You could have a theme halloween party. Everyone must dress to a theme, or even a lette. Like if it was B: Barbie, Bob Dole, etc... (B is a bad letter)
Reply:have the party at six flags
Reply:I would tp some for kicks but the costume unless yur either raunchy or really funny other than that its kinda dumb a scary movie would be cool

(im a guy) ok
Reply:It would be more fun if you'd just have a costume party and invite a whole bunch of people.
Reply:Why don't you dress up and watch scary movies. Have everyone dress up like characters in the movie or to a theme. Provide food!

Teens responsible for school shootings.?

What do you think is the main factor for teens acting out in this way?

Teens responsible for school shootings.?
Well i think that there are 2 contributing factors or atleast 2 main ones. The first would be possible abuse at home whether it be sexual , physical or the mental. The other may come from their own self esteim and the way they see other people as not liking them or as them being an outsider. There is one more thing that i would say that drives violence and that is bullying in school. Kids get picked on and are made to feel like they arent good enough simply because they dont have the latest cloth and or arent athletic like other kids may be. But at the same time this doesnt excuse their behavior. they need to be held accountable and the teachers and parents need to take a larger roll in their kids lives and what goes on at school. not that its the parents fault but if interactions between students was looked at more closer and took more seriously maybe some of this can be prevented
Reply:Recent shootings have been by adults, however some common traits are shown by teen shooters in the past. Most have felt disconnected from their peers. They perceive themselves as outcasts. Many are screaming for attention and acceptance. Unfortunately, added to this is a warped perception of right and wrong and a feeling of having nothing to lose or live for. Throw in screwed up family and access to firearms and in a few rare cases the end result is violence. Most kids are cool, just looking for their place and to survive or succeed. As a teacher of 8th graders I see this everyday.
Reply:These kids are picked on outcasts who feel they have nothing left to lose. They take their revenge out on their tormenters AND the innocent. They respond to the cruelty they recieved with cruelty of their own. There's no "main factor", each case is unique in and of itself. And it's sad beyond belief.
Reply:The guy in CO was not a teen.
Reply:I think teens that kill because they were not popular in school and teased use killing as an excuse. We have all been teased, no matter how popular. It's a way of getting attention. I'm just glad the killer kills himself. I can't see paying for this no good lout to stay in prison and in the meantime get the media's attention and become famous. I feel sorry for his family. They will go on enduring pain forever. I wish I had the answer. A lot of these killers come from good homes.
Reply:well im not sure but i think that when people are judgemental and make fun of them and lagh at them every day is what is the cause of most of them or either they have a bad home life something tramatical might have happend to them im not exactly sure but i think that they need to do something about it theres been a whole lot of them in the past week its just sad that there are people in the world that do those things especially the adult one who shoot random people just pathetic!! dont you think
Reply:Read the Bill Dedman on MSNBC today. Very educational treatment of a very heartbreaking subject.

Teens Today!?

They say teens today are disrespectful and over-sexed!

err, well tell me who i should respect beside my family!

which i do....

and tell me why i shouldnt like sex.....it's amazing and free.

Teens Today!?
You shouldn't have to respect anyone, but it would be wise to respect those who learn from their experience.

--sex is nice, yes. but there can be some bad reprocussions if you arent careful. examples? unwanted kids and STDs, man. be safe!
Reply:You should like sex but so many stupid teens don't think about what happens after sex with no protection because they think it can't happen to them.
Reply:Its funny because every generation has had adults who talked badly about the "teens these days." There is nothing wrong with sex, adults just see that it is a growing problem witht the media that presents a wrong message about sex. When we are adults, we will be complaining about the teens.
Reply:Because is wrong. It's gross. Teens should do that untill after marriage (which shouldn't be before 21). God says to wait. And wait I shall.
Reply:Lol.

As far as respect I respect everyone as long as they respect me, if they become disrespectful to me then I don't respect them either.

I think some adults over generalize about us sometimes.
Reply:Respect who you choose to respect, but keep in mind that if you disrespect the important authority figures in your life, you must deal with the consequences.

As for sex.. well.. it's not exactly intellectually stimulating or anything, but as long as you're not knocking up anyone or getting STDs, go ahead.
Reply:oh gag me eeeewwww if your a teen no.stop!it's for your own good
Reply:ur right. I wouldnt know about the sex thing... 2 young
Reply:uh?
Reply:respect yourself. your body is sacred. we must respect others so in return we will get respect back
Reply:I don't really care if you have sex or not just as long as you use a condom. Now onto the respect thing. Yes, you do need to respect your family, but you also need to have respect for the rights of others around you. If you want to be treated well, you need to do the same.
Reply:this is when you say, who cares and dont give a *****, they are stupid
Reply:People generalize other people. The generations before us were teens, and the adults of their time talked about them. Once we're adults, we may very likely talk about teens as well.

As for me, I respect those who respect me. You should give respect to those who will return it, and try to find a more mature way to handle those who disrespect you.

You may also want to be sure to give proper respect to authority figures no matter if they're disrespectful to you first. If not, you'd have to deal with whatever consequences.

In many cases, respecting one who disrespects you may prove you to be the more mature one.

Sex is good, but there are risks that come with it. Many people (adults and teens) have to deal with unplanned prengancy or STDs because they weren't careful. There can also be negative emotional affects due to sex before one is mature enough to handle it.

I'm not saying that teens shouldn't have sex (I'd be a hypocrite if I did), it's just that they should be aware of the risks and be prepared for any consequences of it.

Why do people at YA are always against teens in issues with their parents?

Many teens have asked questions about issues with their parents. Sometimes sseriuos issues, sometimes light ones. But in almost all cases people here (except other teens) side with the parents. Even when it's clear that the parents messed up or were unfair, people always try to find excuses, saying things like kids don't come with instructions, being a parent is the most difficult job ever, your parents are human being, and so on. But when kids mess up people her try to make them feel bad, that they got fair punishments, have to get over their resentment, apologize, etc. I think most people do that because they are afraid of turning kids against their parents, or of giving them more arguments against their parents. Others simply don't like teens, though they were teens in the past. Anyway, my conclusion is YA is not a good place for teens to get advice about problems with their parents, because most answers will make them evn more depressed or angry. Am I right?

Why do people at YA are always against teens in issues with their parents?
you are young, ignorant and blind, just like most people your age. the "issues" with the parents are really issues with the kids. kids are not supposed to be in control of their parents, but rather the parents in control of the kids. yes parents make mistakes sometimes, and that is not right. but for a kid to complain about how bad their parents are is wrong. and the "mistakes" that the kids make (like getting pregnant, etc) are choices that their parents have (most likely) tried to teach them not to make. a kid should feel bad about such things.

I do agree that YA is not a good place for teens to hang out. most of the ones on here ask very stupid questions, can't spell, and get rude to adults.

yes I am a teen myself, I am 17. but because my parents were never around I had to raise my 2 younger siblings in their place. I have some understanding of what it is like to be a parent. and if teens would get over themselves and listen to their parents, we would not have so many problems with teens today.
Reply:I think most people who end up siding with parents think back to when they were teens and what their parents would have done in the same situation. Most of us had the same arguements and in the end our parents ended up right.

They are right when they say that kids don't come with instructions, being a parent is a hard job, we're only human and everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes parents just get upset because you were told something in hopes that you wouldn' t make the same mistakes that they did. Then, when you go ahead and do it, they are upset.
Reply:I'm not trying to be disrespectful here but you are only 14. You don't know what it's like to have children and to worry about them constantly. It's easy for you to judge from where you stand because you haven't been there yet. In time you will understand. At least you seem like an intelligent person and try to reason with the questions. You're ahead of the game already. When you get older you'll understand more.
Reply:Yeah, I wouldn't be 15 again for anything, or the parent of a 15 year old either.

The reason we seem to go against teens is that we have the benefit of seeing both sides not just seeing we have actually lived both sides. We do remember the trouble, the misery of school, the difficulty of teachers and bullies and trying to be in style and wanting more freedom.

As parents we know what happens when the desires for freedom outstrips the judgment, the difficulty of getting into a college when you have lousy marks, the problem of a dead end job when you don't have that degree. Those are real to us and illusory to you.

As parents we wish we could do better lots of time, its pretty scary being responsible for a teen who want us out their lives, whats enough, whats too little?

If you look on any group of Best Answers, you will find that even if the information is flat out wrong, the person will choose as Best Answer what they want to hear in the first place. I don't think YA will make them worse, even though you only want validation for your feelings, it does help to see another perspective.

Even if I don't get BA.
Reply:looking for answers online from strangers is not the best place to find answers . . if you are depressed or angry seek help from your parents . . the best thing you can do whether you agree with them or not is to talk to them . . let them know how you are feeling and let them tell you how they are feeling . .
Reply:Age brings a certain wisdom that teenagers lack. Hindsight is always 20/20 and many of us realize that parents pick and chose their battles, and are only ever looking out for out best interest.

It has only been a couple years since I was a teenager and am not a mother myself, however I quarreled with my own mother often. Part of being a teenager is being arrogant, thinking you can get away with things, thinking you are entitled to other thingst. Parents are usually trying to prepare their children for the real world. Not everything comes easy, and things rarely go you own way. It is an important lesson in life.

The reason why so many disagree with the teens is out of maturity and wisdom. I realize this isn't the best place obtain affirmation when you are a teenager, because to put this politely, teenagers are often misguided.
Reply:Look the problem is this forum is for parents to advise other parents on how to raise teenagers, or for anyone to advise in the parenting of teenagers. People side with the parents because they know better. I am 19 years old. I side with the parents usually becuase teenagers these days are little brats who cant follow simple rules and get the idea that they dont run the show.
Reply:Okay, you say you're almost 15. Print out your question and read it again when you're 40. I bet you laugh.
Reply:ur right n its not about all young ppl seein things like that...i actually believe that teens do see things from both sides but older ppl, like u said, refuse to admit that they're wrong. I dont kno what thats about cus when thos teens r askin their questions sometimes they admit they were wrong but i guess ppl just dont see that.
Reply:come on dude... when we are young we see things differently!!! i am 20 and i started realising it now...parents are not always right but they are 99% of the times right!!!
Reply:you feel this way probably because you are 15 and you expect us (strangers) to tell you what you want to hear. remember we don't know you we are only telling our opinion which is what you came here to ask for in the first place. so if you feel depress speak to your parents and a proffessional. at the age you are in it is normal to feel the way you feel.
Reply:I am not in agreement with you.

I think YA is a good place to start getting an idea of what to do; as a matter of fact, many of us get situations resolved here in YA.

I think that if you expose your situation/question clear, your answer/response will come, clear enough to the best of our knowledge. NOW whether is the answer that you "may" want to hear ... or not... or would like to hear or not, “that is a different story”.

Sometimes we would like to hear something, but reality brings up a completely different picture.

Now will you give thumbs up to what you want to hear – even if it is wrong- or what is RIGHT?

That is in most cases what happens in YA.

We get the clear picture… is impartial whether we LIKE it or NOT.

Some responses are just "silly" but, others are very GOOD. Is for you to judge, and pick and choose, use and have common sense. .. .

PLease GO... and click at the link... below

... someone ask a "similar" question... see what was my response to her...

Good luck... ;-)

As a parent. .when I made a booboo, I mess up . I apologize to my kids. They did they same with me. My kids are 27 and 23 now ; both married . .. ;-)
Reply:I think you are young and most youngsters will see things the way you do. When you are an adult and know better, their advice will make more sense.

Sorry.

Teens having sex and public sex (what do you think?)?

i was riding home on the bus (i was at the very back seat) talking to a friend when all of a sudden i saw one of my other friends giving a guy a B.J to her guy friend (shes only 13)! they were also in the very back across from my seat. i thought it was disgusting. So what do you think of sex in public places and sex between young teens? Also is this type of thing common? sorry if this is to long

Teens having sex and public sex (what do you think?)?
Keep sex pubic, not public! That's what I say!!!
Reply:disgusting

and it depends were you live if its common or not
Reply:I think it should be reported to authorities.....what happens if the bus has a wreck during their deviant behavior??
Reply:Sexual behavior in public, no matter the person's age, is disgusting. Keep it behind closed doors. If you're thirteen, don't do it at all. I would beat those kids if they were mine.

Edit-- It's not only about the girl, either. The boy should feel just as shameful. I hate how our society concentrates on womens' sexual misbehavior, while neglecting to acknowledge that the male has anything to do with it.
Reply:Nicole there are a lot of teens and pre-teens nowadays that are becoming sexually active very early in their lives. Sad fact is that they truly believe that it makes them appear more mature then they actually are and that guys will think more of them. But truth is that the guys are just as immature and so don't truly understand what is happening either. And when they get a little older they will regret many of these experiences. As for sex in public it happens at times when people get excited but they should at least attempt to be very discreet about it.
Reply:Wow... i didn't lose my virginity or give a b,j untill i was almost 16. But still.. i kinda feel slutty for that even though it was my boyfriend. But if shes only 13 and it was only a guy friend then thats pretty gross and low of her. At your age this shouldnt be common. Especially in public places.. for people to see... thats disgusting and makes her look bad and people will start talking about her and shes going to regret it in the longrun...
Reply:Disgusting at any age....If teenagers are going to have sex they should not do this kind of thing in public....This is some thing you should be doing in private....Not in my world it's not common (sex in public)....I would not say this kind of behavior has not happen before where i live, it's just that i have not witness it....Was it a school bus or public transportation? ...I have never seen this happen and i hope that i never will.....I would find it offensive if i saw this kind of thing happening in my presence....

edit -- There's plenty on the social/psychological addictive factors of cell phones, most pointing to people avoiding real contact to spend time on the phone, which would of course include sex. But there's also evidence that the microwaves and radiation stimulate the cerebral cortex. We tend to go back to things that stimulate the brain, it's a common factor in many addictions. Younger brains are more susceptible because they're still developing.

I think we're conducting a very risky experiment on ourselves with these things. By the time we realize the true dangers, it'll be too late.

Most of them feel like they can handle sex but they have no clue of the consequences and repercussions that come with the act. I would much rather see an annoying teenager on the cellphone as opposed to being in the Ob/Gyn Clinic or worst....
Reply:I doubt the validity of your study because most phone calls are about how cute some guy is or what one did on their last date which is what sex is for a teenager.
Reply:My guess is more teens own cell phones than are having sex. So of course they'd rather keep the cell is they ain't getting any booty anyway.

Important Questions for Teens Only Please?

I'm trying to do a video project for class, and would like answers from teens to these questions:

How do you view the world?

What type of workout is best for teens??

I'm 16, and i've started working out regularly (going 2 gym).....but lots of people around say different things about teens working out. Some people say teens should workout regularly, sometimes do a little vigorous workouts(lift weights, build muscles) to keep the body healthy and fit. Another bunch of people say teens shouldn't do vigorous workouts like DONT lift weights and build up muscles too much because it can slow down our bone growth and it may be retarded, meaning I will remain somewhere around my current height! That seriously scares me....I dont want to stay with this height for the rest of my life.....i want to get taller......then they just say start doing heavy workouts after the age of 21!!!! I have to wait for 5 years?? I really like going to the gym, mainly because i want to keep fit, be healthy, look good(six pack, lean muscles,etc)......so anyone knows the answer and the right way for a teen of my age to workout and keep lean and fit???

What type of workout is best for teens??
To stunt your growth, your weight lifting routine would have to damage the "growth plates" in the bones. Most reputable sources I've seen indicate that's not likely to happen with a sensible workout. Sensible means using proper form and using moderate weights. A weight you can handle easily for 6-to-8 reps before failure is moderate. You probably should wait until you're older to try going for that 1-rep maximum. But unless you're planning to compete in power lifting, I don't see much value in 1-rep max sets. You can get a vigorous workout and make great gains in strength and muscle size using moderate weights. For more info, check out this link:

Teens rule the music biz? (how true is that)?

What type of music are american teens into..here in Mexico are more into pop, reggae.

The question is here's a mexican band trying to get famous in the U.S, they're really popular in Mexico...do u think americans would accept them?..

Teens rule the music biz? (how true is that)?
Teens don't rule the music business. The old, rich dudes who manipulate the masses into thinking that many of these pop acts are great are the ones who rule it.

Teens and boyfriends?

What is considered going too far at the age of 13 nearing 14?

And is it right for teens to date that young?

Teens and boyfriends?
I think the age when an individual starts dating really depends on the person. If you feel you are ready you probably are. One of my friends started dating a girl when he was in middle school and now at age twenty they are getting married.

As to how far to go physically...I think if you have to ask yourself if it is too far, it is too far. Hope this helps : )
Reply:When you're too young to actually drive yourself to your own date, you're probably too young to date.. That being said, enjoy making out with your boyfriend and keep it at that..
Reply:No it's not right for teens to be dating at that age. They have all or more of the hormones and not enough brains or courage to know what is right. Kids that age can't even drive a freaking car much less operate reproductive organs responsibly. We've all been out and about and seen kids this age making out and I personally think that if they had the maturity they would realize how bad this reflects on them. Whatever happened to slumberparties, swimming, riding bike, grabbing some food, rollerskating, and all these fun activities? I just can't imagine any parent that would allow this because I feel this is why teen pregnancy is so huge.
Reply:If you count the number of 'teen pregnancy' questions here on yahoo answers. it will scare you.

dating at 13/14 is ok. it's the times. but be careful. it depends on yourself. you have the right to say no when you don't feel like going further.

i think they are to young to date but kids started dating or saying "going out" in 5th grade and your what like 12

Reply:Okay if you are 13, you shouldn't go any farther than a kiss [no making out! that leads to other things], a hug, or hand holding. Because at that age, boys tend to get fresh and they will take it as far as they can go. That's when Y0U have to stop him, let him know that you're not comfortable. [unless you are?? lol]

I'm 16 and my dad still doesn't like when I talk about having guy friends. And I currently have a boyfriend of three months [today! aww yay!!] in which my dad doesn't know :( but momma does!!!

Teens, what is your dream website?

I am trying to make a website for 13-18 year old teens. What would make you visit a website? What should I include? Also, would you visit a website called yourexpression.com? (That's what I was thinking of calling it)

Thanks in advance!

yeah i would visit that

i would include stuff for both boys and girls fashion, relationships, health, stuff like that. also it would be cool if people could make their own accounts and post stuff (like YahooAnswers!) because then we can ask other teens questions and get real opinions on anything without feeling embarassed.

Media Pressure On Teens (TEENS ONLY)?

1) What stereotypes does the media hold in terms of body image?

2) Do these stereotypes apply any pressure on teens? If so, why? why not?

Media Pressure On Teens (TEENS ONLY)?
If you wouldn't mind taking advice from a teenager - with several years experience, I'd be happy to give some answers, I also apologize profusely for a LONG answer but it's a GOOD question.

1. While there are some positive stereotypes in media these are utterly dwarfed by the varied and highly sophisticated negative or generally detrimental stereotypes and more importantly values packages you are being sold.

2. To suggest that merely stereotypical behavior is promoted or condoned doesn't even properly come close to what is actually going on, it's a little bit like asking about whether Hitler was promoting a biased values against minorities.

That so doesn't cover the base. Our society is for the most part controlled in very large part by major media outlets, and these in turn are funded again in large part by commercial promotion (advertisement).

At best advertisement can be socially positive or at most we should really expect a degree of neutral behavior from companies but...that's not what's going on.

What most folks in modern society do NOT know is that billions of dollars have already been spent not just selling you on the idea, but disecting in minute detail what it is "the consumer" wants. This industry has been at it since the 1930's but in the 1980's it was combined with formal psychology and has lead to a deeply and profoundly powerful set of media knowledge which is NOT publicly know. It's the knowledge of how to market to people with scientific precision.

As consumers we see only the most obvious end-products of this deep knowledge but it's definitely there, and it works and it is not necessarily working in the interests of the greater good.

So teens (and everyone else) are pressured to act, believe and accept things however, we are being asked to, but it's completely subtle and extremely powerful.

Teens are as a group the most easily influenced, simply because as consumers, you are new to the game, we all start out having limited access to our own cash and limited freedom to spend it however we want, and suddenly able to do as we please with money and thats when things get interesting.

Children of course are HEAVILY marketed to but they don't have direct access to cash, they are marketed with the knowledge that their desires are handled in fact by parents and so advertisements are only so bad, they are pervasive and repeated and persistent but not obviously anti-social to most parents.

When we enter our early teens , the gloves (so to speak) come off, and we are ALL held to obscene standards of beauty, sexual attractiveness, physical perfection and not really towards anything which might lead towards us thinking too much. Similarly, teachers, scientists and professionals or educators and intelligent or responsible people generally are often portrayed as "the other", arrogant, unattractive, neurotic or socially awkward and un-fun, and should just be left alone to leave "us" the beautiful people to their fun activities.

This is completely counter to what politicians, companies and others say they "want" in society.

So in examining this what hard evidence do we have, Lots actually.

Consider the pretty toxic advertising trend a couple of years ago which promoted models who look very young in sexually compromising positions, not just promoting teen sex, or public nudity but "teens" having sex with older adults. This sleaziness was later found out to be being promoted by actual pedophiles working within the marketing and advertising industry and not just some guys trying to be "avante guard" or "cutting edge". So that sent Calvin Klein and others, into serious damage control mode and while you might see images like them you won't these any more.

Calvin Klein - Pedophilia Chic :

http://bloodymessbricc.blogspot.com/2007...

(what's the REAL message we send to people with ads like this)

Abercrombie and Fitch :

http://sinekpartners.typepad.com/refocus...

(hey that guy looks ---- older.---)

On the flip side however, we are NOT unarmed in this fight, there are great books about the subject as well as a new group of ads aimed squarely at acknowledging the destructive imagery and influence of such advertising.

Even without being as explicit as the advertising above (this is when it's most obvious), the Dove ads do a much better job of pointing out how unrealistic our media is in portrayal of the ideals we "should" value or be attracted to.

"Evolution" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf4...

A funny take on "Evolution" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-kSZsvBY...

Even better was the ad - again by dove which hits the nail right on the head

"Onslaught" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaH4y6ZjS...

As an example of just exactly how subtle they can be, here's the most obvious subtle ad, recently seen on television stations, The original ad was marketed to both gay and straight audiences (exclusively), and it the desire of the levis company to "tap" the lucrative market for gay male and lesbian consumers more effectively, the advertisement was called "Change".

In its immediate form, it seems to be an example of "tolerance" in the modern media , in reality it's an effort of the levis company to "tap" the lucrative market for gay male and lesbian consumers more effectively.

"Change" - gay : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTP1K3Vu3...

"Change" - str : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD5k98oDY...

There is no "pressure" as it is typically defined, it's called "product identification" you as a consumer or viewer identify with this ad more easily the operative bet here is that if the "hot girl" wasn't "doing it" for you that there's a chance the "hot guy" might. AND that that chance is worth the X number of dollars to shoot a different 10 second scene for a 30 second commercial.

If it were actually geared towards tolerance as a valued ethic then they would have had BOTH a gay and straight couple in some situation which made BOTH groups feel reasonable comfortable with such a situation. That's not what happened here.

They were marketed to exclusively. Gays' feel better when they see gays portrayed on screen, straights feel better when straights portrayed on screen, there is no real consideration of "the other" in either one of these ads.

The best educational example of this is the series of videos called

"The Century of the Self" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB5NYme0P...

they are long, and definitely start out boring but are - when you get to think about it VERY educational.

Other examples of the human corporatocracy at work include some folks whom have left the corporatocracy for either personal or professional reasons,

This guy is a strong "leftist" in his political viewpoint however his anecdotal evidence tends to be too consistent for the average conspiracy nut (corporatocracy personal renegade) :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjPoeQRew...

Outfoxxed - this was a movie produced by news professionals, journalists and writers who left the Fox News channel for professional reasons (corporatocracy personal renegade) http://www.metacafe.com/watch/199922/out...

An interesting rant on the corporatocracy at war : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vEOml_P4...

My voyage to become aware of all this started here, when my brother joined the Marine Corps, I originally saw this and was pretty pissed that it seemed so completely conspiratorial and off the hook, after 2 years of reading, I realized that while it's certainly biased, but it's not all that wrong - unfortunately.

I want to do something this summer that invovles animals (mostly reptiles) and i can't find any camp or event that is in my area that studies or looks at animals. Can someone tell me a good camp like this for teens (And please no horseback riding...) Please have the location in southern Califronia

Reply:Yes, Teens would love to help with animals. Teens that are in love with animals will join and enjoy it! It's a really good idea to keep teens off the streets. Instead enjoying something they love.
Reply:Why not go and help in a rescue operation in a poorer country?

Im in the UK but I help in Spain with street dogs %26amp; cats, and Im planning on going to Sri Lanka this summer to help over there.

This is for teens??

This question is for teens...I was wondering if you could tell me the type of novels you're interested in reading? Or the subject you want to read about (witches, wizards, vampires, fairies, or love, boarding schools, realistic fiction, etc.). I wanted to know because I'm aiming for the teen group in the stuff that I write. Thanks!

This is for teens??
Boarding Schools always make thing better (ie, Harry Potter)

The characters live with eachother, and are distant from their parents. They can sneak around and do lots of stuff without their parents ever finding out.

Personally, I prefer fantasy to anything else. However, there must be a romantic twist underlaid in the plot somewhere. Try not to base the book around romance, many teenagers find that disgusting to read. Also, try not to make it too cliche. The hero saves the girl and they fall in love. BORING!

Also, deaths that affect the major characters lives, decisions, and thoughts are very intriguing toward teens.

Tying all of these together: The hero tries to rescue his love from a great danger. However, being a normal teenager with flaws, he cannot save her. He uses her death as motivation to save the world from evil.

Or if you really want to be impressive, make the girl the hero. I'm tired of the guys getting all of the credit :)

Also, make sure teenagers can relate to what the characters go through on a daily basis (problematic relationships, trouble and stress from school, etc)

I think that's about it :) I hope it helps.

I guarantee you that you will not regret it! ;D

Reply:vampires

romantic comedies

bording school drama and romance (is also sortive good)

nonfiction

historical nonfiction
Reply:Science fiction but it has to be a mix of Sci-fi, humor (regular kind and the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy kind), chaste romance (very chaste, like G or PG rated, sorry, I'm kind of old fashioned in that subject), and adventure (and not a story like the Disney princess stuff or the old fairy tales stuff, the story is a lot better when the girl in the story actually does stuff and does not just stand around waiting for a handsome prince to risk her).
Reply:Science fiction, humor. I don't really like historical fiction or school dramas. The science fiction I like to read has humor in it (usually somewhat corny), some action (not too gory), some science and some fiction (not quite fantasy...but not quite science textbook).
Reply:i find reading extremly boring because i can't just sit down and read i am too hyper a person and like tv and playing the nintendo wii. I am really bad though because instead of reading a book such as Harry Potter i will wiat until it comes out in the cinema and watch it instead. if you think about it i have an advantege i wont get disapointed if there is something different from the book and the film.

Books recommendations for teens??

well i just finish reading ellen hopkins books.

does anyone know any good authors that write for teens.

maybe even one that writes like ellen hopkin?

yeah, if i could get a list of some good teen book that'd be great, thanks.

Books recommendations for teens??
1) Speak-about rape

2) So b it-a girl struggles with her family's mental illness problems

3) Crank-about drug abuse

4) The Secret Life of Bees

5) Catcher in the Rye-a classic
Reply:Get the book “Crunch Time” by Mariah Fredricks. It’s the most accurate depiction of teen life I’ve ever read. It’s sharp, funny, and very, very accurate. It’s a quad-narrative split between four friends taking the SAT. Then, one day, they found out that someone cheated and the whole school is in uproar. It’s a brilliant book; highly recommended.

Another good one is “Story Time” by Edward Bloor.
Reply:get 'the naming' and 'the riddle' by Alison Croggon, they're awesome! i can't wait till the third comes out in sept. here in the usa

IF SO... THEN I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND "Hana-Kimi" (for you in full blossom) It's the best book (series) i've ever read! And if you like series... then this is for you... there's like 20 of them. And its for older teens... and its funny as hell and it also has some romance in it.. but its really really cool! I can't express how much i love these books! YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM!!!!

(if ur into manga.. lol.. but i just got into manga and everything like...2 months ago.. and this was the first manga books i started reading... and i have to say... i've become hooked!)

TEENS AND PREGNANCY and adoption?

Are there any teens out there that would put their child up for adoption? Why and to who would you consider?

TEENS AND PREGNANCY and adoption?
TEENS BEWARE:

I do not know this posters intentions.

I hope it's just another teen asking an honest question, but this question just seems suspect for someone trying to find a teenager that is pregnant to try to coerce them into adopting their child to them.

There is a yahoo group all about adoption scams if anyone EVER feels they may be getting scammed.

Poster, please update with your intentions, I don't mean to hijack your question, but I've had too many friends about lose it all to scammers.
Reply:I agree with stormwarm...I wouldnt get preg in the first place!
Reply:i don`t think i would unless it was a life or death situation.but if i did would let my mom or one of my family members adopt it.
Reply:no i kept and am keeping my son-
Reply:I find it weird that the United States is so anti teen pregnancy... The rest of planet it's normal and common practice. It's weird to me that the U.S. practices this, it isn't the richest or the most powerful in the world. I think society is pushing teenagers both ways... to be sexually active but not get pregnant or sick, or caught. something to ponder.

Teens ages 13-18--What's your opinion on contraceptive use? Should it be used, and if so by whom?

Here's another question for my class project. Please include your age with your answer. I have more questions waiting for answers under EDUCATION %26amp; REFERENCE, sub-catagory HOMEWORK HELP, and they all start "TEENS AGES 13-18--..." Thanks for helping me answer these questions.

Teens ages 13-18--What's your opinion on contraceptive use? Should it be used, and if so by whom?
of course teens should protect themselves against stds and pregnancy. it should be used. it should be openly given to teens. ive got two views on this:

my grandma:

teenagehood is when you are suppose to have kids! that is when you are healthy and active!

school newspaper:

if we are going to give teens condoms, why dont we give them sterile needles? since drug use is increasely!

my view is as followed:

contraceptive should be in schools. it should be used my teenagers. after i told my mom i was having sex, she told me that i had to go to planparent hood with my boyfriend for the pill or i would be in trouble.

16
Reply:My opinion on contraceptives is that they should only be used by those have already had kids and don't want anymore. It a shame that little girls are on birth control messing up there systems. They shouldn't even be having sex. I aint saying i am a virgin. But I just recently lost it to a boyfriend of 4 yrs.

But then again all of the STD's out here if you are having sex you have to use a condom for one not to get preg.and for 2 not to catch something you cant cure.

So overall its a shame that little girls between 11-15 are on birth control. but its good to have condoms just in case. age again is 18
Reply:Abstaince works. I hope your mothers find out where you post, chat, and set you little girls straight.
Reply:I am a little above your age group,I am22, but I have to respond to the idiot talking about abstinence and telling your mothers. Abstinence does work, but if you are in a relationship and you are planning on being intimate but are not ready for children contraceptives are for you. You can talk talk to a physician at a county health clinic and they can prescribe something that is right for you. Usually it is free or low cost depending on whether or not you have a job. They do not count your parents income and parental consent is not needed. I got married when I was 16 and thanks to contaceptives I did not have my first child until I was 20 and planned a pregnancy. Contraceptives are also good for girls who have irregular or very heavy periods, the will regulate the cycle and the severity of it.
Reply:I think that people should use them because no one wants to be burdened with a child when they're a teen.

Teens!! Why do you like my space so much!?

Hey This question is not just for teens but the majority of my space users are teenagers....I personally have a my space account but from your point of veiw what is it about my space that you love so much!?

Why do you or do not like my space??

Teens!! Why do you like my space so much!?
i like myspace because it gives me my own homepage, my own blogsite, my own picture hosting, my own messenger systems, and my own free expression, all in one page that i can change around and make how i want...
Reply:www.myspace.com/rascalaustin
Reply:i just use it to contact friends when they're not on AIM or something
Reply:I don't really love it that much. Then again I'm not a teen. I do enjoy finding people I haven't seen in a while.
Reply:They like to "hook up" with people. Especially older men whom we see in those Dateline NBC predators specials. hehehehe..

but seriously, it is a form of medium where they can express themselves without parents or authority figures telling them to cut their hair, dress formally and so on. here, they can rant using blogs get the "support" system of fellow teens.
Reply:I'm guessing because that's something that they can be of their own and make new friends. Also, they have free times to create, modify, chat, and search for friends because they don't have any thing much to do or to worry about. Unlike them, people who work don't have times for that and perhaps myspace.com is just a "thing" for teens.

TEENS!!! What fears about life and death do you have?

I am asking this question for an important reason. Please only real and honest replies. I am a Youth Group Leader and my desire is to understand to the very best of my abilities the way I can help teens to deal with and understand the fears and struggles that you face.

TEENS!!! What fears about life and death do you have?
Fear of uncertainty in every walk of life. One can overcome only by developing self-confidence and by ones unfailing faith in the ultimate victory of the truth.
Reply:Stop trying to molest young people. They aren't into you.
Reply:failure
Reply:i am afriad of getting cancer or some other bad thing.
Reply:im afraid of dieing and going to hell.
Reply:well....listen and listen good plz.

Many teens are afraid to die...cuz they want to enjoy life as much as possible...and many other dudes and dudettes want to die cuz they think death is easier...cuz they had a DAMNED life man!!!

So as a teen....this is really hard to the community to face them and i'm counting on u MAN!!!
Reply:My biggest fear about life is that I won't be accepted by the most important people in my life. My biggest fear about death is that I'll go to a dark, firey hell for all eternity.
Reply:my fear of life is the feeling ALONE . No ONE likes to feel alone. Everyone wants to feel as they are part of a family. I ve realize when I want to "be left alone" is when i MOST NEED someone to tell me everything is going to be OK. So the fear of life is "BEING ALONE" and my fear of DEATH is the "unknown" there are so many religious and all claim to be the right one and what if there is a GOD and I never believed in it where am i going to go?. MY fear of Death is not doing whatever i wanted to do in life. Not saying "I LOVE YOU" to the people i always loved. NOT FORGIVING and being at PEace with myself.
Reply:I think the root of all fear is the un-known. Every fear a person could possibly have goes back to not knowing what's going to happen.

I think it's awesome what you're doing!! ROCK - ON!!
Reply:Acceptance
Reply:I'm afraid that I won't have a chance to go sky-diving in New Zealand before the Rapture. (Just kidding!)

I'm afraid of not being accepted.

I'm afraid of pain. I'm more afraid of how I'd die than death itself.

And I want Jesus to come back soon. I'm sick of this world.
Reply:In life: I fear about failing and not reaching my goal in my life. In death: I fear Nothing!
Reply:exam!!!
Reply:i'm afraid of becoming a monster

i'm 18
Reply:You can't just ask all teens about what their fears and struggles are because they vary from teen to teen. But personally, my fear is failure in school... because there's just so much stress.
Reply:I fear thet I will never wake up. I will die in my sleep and not see the sunshine of the next day.
Reply:fear about life = future being smooshed.
Reply:I'm 19, so I guess I count as a teen. I don't really have fears about life or death, other than the normal sorts of "What if I get cancer" "What if a bear eats me" sort of fears. I'm Agnostic, so I don't know if there is a god or a heaven, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'll find out when it's time.

Teens on antidepressents?

Do antidepressents really INCREASE suicidal thoughts in teens?

Teens on antidepressents?
Yes they can, as antidepressants effect brain chemistry. Its a hit and miss, cometimes antidepressants dont do what their supposed to and trigger other brain chemicals, making you angry or suicidal/depressed. It took a few medication trials to find one that worked for me, and i started on them at 16. If your a teen and you are prescribed them, take them. Just stick it out for 2 months, as antidepressants take about that long to fully kick in, so if one where to take them and commit suicide a week later, it may have been an influencing factor, but not the root, those thoughts have to have already been there. Celexa is what works for me, i tried effexor but that was bad, and wellbutrin which wasnt so good either, it really depends on you and how your body reacts with it.
Reply:Yes they do and they also

increase the will to want to

harm someone else. These meds are changing the way

you think and may react differently in different people.

I would never let a child of mine take them. Give me the

name of the drug you are taking and I will tell you the possible side effects. Just click on my avatar and you will go to my Profile.
Reply:Yes! See section 2, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris
Reply:lol, pills. screw pills, the only reason i would see that some1 woould need pills as a teen is because of a chemical imbalance in there brain causing a disorder, other then that talk to a shrink, pill wont solve the world.
Reply:Yes, but not as often as most people seem to believe. I think that studies have come up with the statistic of... 2% (non-medicated kids) to 4% (of young people on antidepressants) ...meaning 4% of kids on these meds will experience an increase in such thoughts. Which also means 96% will not. And it should also be noted that we are talking thoughts and behaviors...but NOT actual suicides.

Ever since the FDA put a "black box" warning on antidepressants...the amount of prescriptions written for young people has declined. During this same time, the suicide rate (completed suicides) for this age group went up.

All meds have the possibility of causing reverse reactions in certain people.
Reply:I have been on anti-depressents since I was 15. It really can. Younger people may often the opposite effect than what the medication is approved for.

Teens do you like scooby doo?

I was just thinking how many teens or adults out there likes the 1 the only scooby doo.......i love the show, I think it is a timeless classic show that keeps on rolling. I still like to watch it now that I am 14 almost 15.

But yea, I'm more of a fan of the Scooby Doo from the 60s and 70s.
