Teens and their fascinations?

why is it that most teens think it is cool to try to pretend that they are in gangs and do tons drugs? most of the time it is total bs and its kind of annoying! most people that say these things dont know anything about that stuff, so why say it at all?

Teens and their fascinations?
Peer Pressure, and them trying to fit in with a group of people. Who knows but I agree it's really annoying.
Reply:That comes from "peer presure". The ones that say those things want to fit in, somewhere, with somebody and, in their mnds, they spiral downwards, to the confused groups, instead of climbing up with the better class of people.

Reply:When you say teens your including every one ans well not all do us are that way.. I have never done drugs, gotten drunk, had sex, been in a gang or anything and every one in my school knows... thats they case with most of my friends too and we are all 18... heehe
Reply:The same reason why each generation's teens tried to smoke, drink, race cars and be in gangs. It was popular culture's answer to being rebellious. Don't hate these kids for doing it, because if you're honest enough with yourself, you had your own brand of rebellious teenaged angst and were equally annoying.
Reply:I don't think that most teens pretend that they are in gangs and do tons of drugs. I think that the american media is creating a society of fear that would lead you to believe these things about modern day teens, but I do not think that their are tons of teens doing tons of drugs any more today than any other time in recent history, and I do not know hardly anyone who pretend that they are in gangs. I know of people that ARE in gangs but even that is a very small percentage of americas youth.

And if you are referring to the "Gangster" theme that was popular for many white teens. That was just a fad and is slowly going out of style. Rap sales are rapidly decreasing and I believe that in a few years you will see much less of the white rapper motif ifyouwill.
Reply:It's because of peer pressure and the feeling that they must keep up with the status quo. My son is in 5th grade, and I must say I'm not looking forward to middle school as much as he is!
Reply:They are misled by the media.

That's not just teens, people of all ages can get pretty stupid when in front of a tv, magazine, radio, etc.
Reply:i have 5 sisters and 4 daughters as time passes I have notice teenagers are alot like menopausel women trust me find me a menopausal woman and a teenager they act so much alike guess cause they are aging and the harmones are everywere!notice i called them HARMones
Reply:The growth of population seems to bring changes in our social values and environment. The communities were greatly affected by the changing environment that molds the personalities of people. While it is true that heredity contributed a lot in the personality of individual, the communities they grow and lived influenced their lives. I agree, it's annoying to observe their ways of life. There is still hope to change our social practices and make the world a lively place.

Anyway, blame it on the media, peer pressure, just life in general. Kids want to fit in somewhere. And when you say "most teens think it is cool..." .. yeah.. most teens DON'T THINK TO BEGIN WITH, lol. They pretend they're in gangs and do drugs because.. they just want to pretend, haha. Their parents would kick their asses, and they know it. They want to act tough to be cool and dangerous or whatever. Sometimes they get a deeper understanding of things and make progress in that kind of stuff, sometimes they just move on and grow out of it.
Reply:I've looked at that alot. I think young people that are not identified with a particular "group" must be very venerable to those that are.

Gangs are mean and dangerous, and they stick up for each other. I believe alot of it stems from the kids feeling unprotected and afraid. That's why they pretend affiliation.
Reply:teens are changing from children to adults and having identity crisis' so they are trying things out and also they are the most affected by peer pressure. It is like the are re-forming and they experiment. They definitely don't want to be like the rest of the population. What I find funny in hindsight is there is an age when girls call each other before school so that they can dress alike and then a few years later that would be the worst thing to do. Stages , ages, crazes, All of us of every age have gone thru it, the world just has a too wide range of choices now. my opinion
Reply:They want to be cool and prove themselves as being strong so that they can have followers and people who will take an interest in them.

All pretty lame if you ask me. But they should grow out of it, it wont last long.
