Teens attending church alone?

My family is atheist, though I attended a Presbyterian school when I was younger. I'm now interested in Unitarian Universalism, and curious as to whether or not it is OK to attend alone. Has a younger person here ever attended church services alone? If you attend church, do older teens sometimes attend alone?

Teens attending church alone?
I think it’s a wonderful idea as long as you are careful. I would ask the greater if they have a religious education class for your age range that meets during service, or if you want stay for the sermon. At our church we let the teens that are at least 16 decided if they want to go to the youth group or stay for the service.

If you can stay after the service so that you can ask to talk to the minister and or the Director of religious education. Both should be more than willing to talk to you.

As far as a UU church I would definitely recommend one. Since they are a no creed church, they will value you for your beliefs and encourage you to grow based on your values not theirs.

I had gone a couple of times before for sermons on issues that I find interesting and was welcomed then. I actually got pulled into the youth group when they put an ad in the church newspaper asking if someone was willing to teach them to play DND. I have since joined the church and now lead said youth group. We just finished a set of lessons of the religions of the Far East and have spent the last two weeks talking about the events coming out of China.
Reply:Yes they can, many do at my church
Reply:I've gone by myself before and everytime i did i didn't understand a thing they said.
Reply:perfectly ok, i have seen many do it
Reply:They do, but that isn't always right. If children go alone to the wrong church (no real domination, I am a proud atheist) they could be made to think wrong things. They could learn the complete opposite of what their parents want them to learn.
Reply:I have seen many youth investigate churches alone. God bless you in your endeavors.
Reply:I've recently started going to a UU church alone, after years of attending a Presbyterian church with my family. Go for it; it's a really nice atmosphere.
Reply:I'm 18 i go to church on my own and i know a lot of teens that go bye them self even some kids go by them self
Reply:yes you can attend church alone. But beware of brainwashing
Reply:Do not worry, you will fit in fine and be welcomed wherever you go. No one would turn you away if you were searching for Christ. I will pray for you family.
Reply:I did that all the time. It's perfectly fine to do it alone.
Reply:I attend a Christian community church myself, I'm 19. My neice also goes to the same church by herself, she is 18.
Reply:yes, it is a very good idea to attend a Christian church...

I would avoid the U.U. as they aren't a Bible based follower of Christ church...

Reply:I would encourage you to find a trusted adult to take you.

Despite the wonderful stories about churches, the truth is that allot of damaged people are attracted to churches, and there are too many opportunities for you to be hurt, if you are not with someone who can help keep them away from you.

In almost every church I attended there were problems with at least one or two of the members.
Reply:yes, its done these days all the time.
Reply:my parents are very strong atheists. I was invite to a special meeting of Jehovah's witnesses. I went to their kingdom hall alone and i was just 16. at that age i started to think seriously about life and the world as i just left school. i had lots of questions and so started to study the bible.

(I became one of Jehovahs witnesses)
