A resent study says that teens would rather give up sex than give up there cellphones!? What do you think about this!?

Reply:um well contrary to what my bf and friends think..i dont believe kids should be running around having sex.....so yeah id rather have my cellphone.
Reply:I saw something recently about cell phones being physically addictive, something about the way the microwaves affect the brain. I'll see if I can find a link.





edit -- There's plenty on the social/psychological addictive factors of cell phones, most pointing to people avoiding real contact to spend time on the phone, which would of course include sex. But there's also evidence that the microwaves and radiation stimulate the cerebral cortex. We tend to go back to things that stimulate the brain, it's a common factor in many addictions. Younger brains are more susceptible because they're still developing.





I think we're conducting a very risky experiment on ourselves with these things. By the time we realize the true dangers, it'll be too late.

Reply:I am an adult who has communication skills so I do not rely on the laziness of text messaging or feel like I have to have my cell stuck to my ear at all times to validate myself..... so I think kids now days are stupid, lol. I think it shows us how materialistic our kids are and how things like cell phones are status symbols and maybe we aren't raising our kids to be independent rather than depend on a large social community. But maybe it just means kids arent having sex and they have good values...... doubtful.... but maybe.

Interesting study, I noticed in my hometown, it seems like they would rather have sex than a cell phone.
Reply:Decreases STD's, unwanted pregnancies and abortions! That's always a good thing!
Reply:Not in my neighborhood. There are still many pregnant teen girls walking around. I wish the problem could be solved that easily, but it can't.
Reply:Good! Teenagers don't need to get into something they are not ready for. Most of them feel like they can handle sex but they have no clue of the consequences and repercussions that come with the act. I would much rather see an annoying teenager on the cellphone as opposed to being in the Ob/Gyn Clinic or worst....
Reply:I doubt the validity of your study because most phone calls are about how cute some guy is or what one did on their last date which is what sex is for a teenager.
Reply:My guess is more teens own cell phones than are having sex. So of course they'd rather keep the cell is they ain't getting any booty anyway.

A proliferation of cellphones, or a porliferation of teen pregnancies - I'd rather deal with rude cell phone folk than than have to see many more unwanted pregnancies.
