Why is it so important to teens to begin drinking and using drugs??

ok,im a teen myself,and i have recently joined a group at school of 8 or 9 people who are trying to prevent teens and pre-teens in our school from drinking and doing drugs.at first i joined just because my friend did,but now,i really really care about the topic. i mean, the older i get,the more i am shocked by hearing people in my own grade talking about alcohol and drugs!! why is this so important to teens now????? any guesses???

Why is it so important to teens to begin drinking and using drugs??
Most of it is curiosity, wanting to find out what it's like and also it's the buzz they get from it.


It can also be family life and also growing up with it around you can influence you to tend to do the same as your family members.


Can also be a rebellious satge they are going through and also thinking they are an adult and mature enough to do this.
Reply:most teens start drinking or doing drugs to try to fit in. or their parents drink or they've seen it done by older siblings or relatives and they want to try it to see what its like.
Reply:It is because everyday there are increasing amounts of teen drinking and using drugs. Teen's do it for so called "coolness" which isn't very.





Achohol and drugs can hurt you very badly. My cousin ended up 2 years of rehab and a half way house. It can damage your body and you emotionally. It is something that no one should do.

Reply:right there withh you. all my friends smoke pot, and drink regulary i am abs. against it. they do it because they think they are cool and in the ''in'' crowd, they get veryyy addicted to it. then that is it
Reply:i feel happy when i hear mature people saying that they dont wanna smoke and/or drink... im one of those ppl. kids join it to relieve pain/stress, be "cool", or they are just stupid! Also i think they see their parents doing it, or the "cool kids", so they wanna do it too.. also commercials.. i learned this in D.A.R.E... also, its kinda common sense for me :)





KIDS OUT THERE: PLS SAY NO TO DRUGS, ALCHOHOL, CIGARRETTES OF ALL KINDS! its for urown good! ppl dont realize tht stuff KILLS
Reply:they want to feel cool and grownup..which is very stupid..cuz at the end..their parents will still b taking care of a drug addict or alcoholic...
Reply:some do it to fit in. i do drink and smoke but its not to fit in i dont have many friends and theres alot people dont know about me and i like it that way.
