Have any teens had problems getting hired because of their tattoos or piercings?

Im writing an english paper and i wanted to know if there have been any problems concerning teens and jobs. or if you are an employer tell me why or why not you would/wouldnt hire a teen with tattoos/piercings.thanks much!

Yes, most definatley!! I work in the ER, a sup for Pt Access, (we register pts when they come in), and I do know that teens and adults alike have not gotten positions BECAUSE of tatoos or piercings. Personally, I do not agree. I am 40 something... and I have my tounge and belly button pierced, and a small tatoo on my right shoulder, oh, and also I have one of my ears that have 6 piercings in it (3 on top and three on bottom),


Now, I do have to follow the guidelines and policies the hospital has set, and the tatoo has to be hidden, the tounge bar removed and only two earrings per ear, but I belong where I am at, I am good with people, and sometimes, making a pt feel at ease or knowing I helped make them feel better in some way, (I'm not medical), makes me feel good in many different ways. So, my opinion is based on the fact that "outer" looks may have to be a certain way at a job, but unless the teen is total goth or freaky, they should in no way be penalized for haveing a peircing that can be taken out or a tatoo that can be hidden! Companies could end up losing what could have been GREAT employees for the company, its almost a form of discrimination, (in my opinion), hope I helped in the answer you were looking for!!

I teach a college course , in my lecture I stress the importance of NOT having tattos and body piercings. It is unprofessional and portrays an image of hardness. They


should be kept private. Many Offices will not hire you because it is not good customer service
Reply:We recently had a qualified applicant in our law firm. She had tattoos and piercings on her face. The did not hire her because she did not portray a professional image.
