TEENS-IBS got any advice.? plz?
Well, I'm not a teen anymore, but I developed IBS when I was 15 and I was diagnosed at 16. Are you on medication? That should help a lot with the symptoms and if it doesn't seem to be working, talk to your doctor because they're are other meds that can work. Being diagnosed and getting some medication was really a relief for me because the year or so that my primary thought it was an infection or the rest of the time when I just put up with it was brutal! I never found that it really negatively impacted my life on the whole. There were times when it was tough but friends understand. Many of them may have it too.
Reply:I'm in school right now and have to deal with this. One thing that has really helped me I is Gas-X thin strips. They dissolve on your tongue so you don't need to excuse yourself to get water for a pill.
Reply:yes it is possible. at school you can get a. allways bathroom pass and use the nurse's bathroom if you want. Dating can still be normal, just go someplace familier that you know what foods they serve and where the bathrooms are. And get someone understanding to date who will be ok with it when/if you tell them. "Its like im just trying to live with the memories already" I totally understand that!! but don't worry things will get better for you. There are new meds out there and better was to deal with things. I got really depressed after I got diagnosed with something and m on antidepressants now and i feel back to my old self now. I hope I helped and if you need to talk, i'm here. =]
Reply:"Antidepressants are a well-recognized treatment in severe IBS."

Have you tried an antidepressant? If not, give it a try. They take 2 weeks to start working.
