If you are an adult, please tell me whether or not you could hear the buzz, and if you are a teen, tell me if you could hear it as well!!
Thanks!
How can only teens hear this ringtone?
In our ears, we have a range of tiny hairs that detect air waves, which we translate into sound. The longer of the hairs can detect low frequencies (low pitches) of about 20 Hz and the shortest can detect high frequencies (high pitches) of about 20 000 Hz. As you age, the hairs naturally become damaged, and the ones soonest to get damaged are the tiniest of the hairs up in the high frequencies. If they are too far damaged, they won't detect the vibrations in their specific frequencies. So that's why younger people will hear the ring tone, but older people will not.
Let's just say that I'm older than high school, but younger than midlife... something happened in my head when I pressed play, but I wouldn't say that I heard a note.
Reply:I can hear it! Report It
Reply:I am 37 and good hell that was a horible sound! Extremely high pitch. I'm surprised my dog didn't go nuts.
Reply:Wow, so strange. I'm 15, and I can hear it.
Reply:There was this tv show that explained why children and teens can hear sounds adults can't. Children often have the keenest sense of sound, decreases during the teenage years, and people at the age of 30 and up cannot hear it. The show is called Sponge and it's shown on KBS, with subtitles, of course.
