Teens vs. adults?

you know how some adults complain about "teenagers today?" they say that teens today are too hooked on electronics like ipods and video games and the computer....and that we all smoke, drink, and do drugs all the time. but isn't it at least somewhat the fault of the adults? we werent born being more addicted to drugs and the computer than the adults that say this...haven't we in fact been influenced by them?


no rude answers please. im just curious what you think. (and i'm only saying SOME adults so don't get all defensive)

I'm an adult and I completely agree with you.


Most parents throw their children in front of the tv or computer so they don't have to deal with them.





It's horrible parenting but they don't care.


Also the teenage pregnancy rate is very high, and while teens will do whatever they please, if parents had stood up and put rules in place the children would have listened. It's all about how you raise your children.





It is the fault of the adults. We are role models for the younger and if we are screwed up than the children will be too. With role models like Lohan and Spears I don't know how even some teens are turning out good but it's because they have good parents.

But I am addicted to my iPod that's the one thing i'll say i can live without the TV or the computer but my iPod...

it's the adults who discovered drugs before us(60s) so it's not like it's something new.

Reply:since we have the technology why not expand on it? adults arent good role models. im a teen. no one tells me what to do.

We elderly codgers didn't force you young'uns to get addicted to the trendy things that you're addicted to. {obscenity} we were addicted to the same things ourselves when we were your age - though the gadgets weren't as small or as flashy as you got today.





But we did have cooler cars,...





It is about choices,... If you let your peers %26amp; what ever you see in the media influence your choices. Its your responsibilty to chose what is best for yourself. Even if a bad choice may seem like a good one at the time. Its the only way we %26amp; you can learn from the experience.





As long as you're happy with the choices you've made, what difference do others think about how you chose to live your life.





It totally up to you to -[ another obscenity ]- up your life or make the best with what you have to have a wonderful life.

Reply:well i think that teenagers say more stuff about adults then they do about us i mean when i go to school their is always someone saying they hate their parents and they cant do anything about it
Reply:yeah all it seems like is my parents tell me: get off that computer, and do something more productive (brush teeth, do face) or go do something instead of sitting and laying around all day. i dont smoke or drink or do drugs, but i want to start drinking and smoking. but idk i havent yet for some reason. yea weve been influeneced by them. they drink alcohol so we teens think that its okk for us to do as well. but with drugs and smoking idk i guess we just feel it makes us feel more mature. my parents are so this way.

Reply:no i think it's parents lack of responsibility. if parents let their children go anywhere they want for all hours of the night ( i know parents that allow this) then they should not be surprised when their children are getting into trouble. as far as electronics i see no problem with it. everyone should utilize them and not let them go to waste. they are very expensive.
