Teens crash...?

I am doing a research and I want the help of you guys,I need any information about this topic"Teens crash"....what causes it the most...what to avoid so it doesn't happen...how to stop it from happening...if you have a website you know please post it here or your own thoughts and opinions! Thanks

Teens crash...?
That's kind of a tough one to give out details for.

First off I think is the biggest is talking on cell phones and not paying attention to whats going on around them and inexperience when a person gets their license the test is nothing in my opinion a 5 year old could pass it if he/she even had 10 hours behind the wheel, another is distractions within the same vehicle an example radio, passengers, and other vehicles you can't honestly believe that a 16 old boy who just got his unrestricted license drives past a car full of girls and he isn't going to look and try to show off to get their attention, which is one of the biggest cause in the male portion of road accidents showing off... this isn't showed in records cause there isn't really any hard fact that this is the case.

I will add more of my thoughts a bit later, I need to get ready to go to work.
Reply:Teens crash because alochal makes them look cool, so they drink and then drive, not thinking before they act, teens can avoid crashing if thy think before they act, stay away from peer pressure, and drive responisbly
Reply:The answer to this quesiton is simple yet somehow overlooked-Inexperiecned drivers, teenagers are the least experienced drivers on the road. The only way I can see to aviod teen crashing or to at least cut down the number of crashes is two fold.1.A much improved driver training program.2.Drivers liscene examinators being trained to spot someone who isn't ready to be a safe driver for whatever reason.
Reply:#1 would have to be DUI... parties and stuff like that

#2 personally would say racing teens?
Reply:Because guys buy 350Zs or Evos, and decide to race them at 120mph+ (even tho the evo would obviously win).

Why would someone think American teens are more mature than teens in England?

My friend from America thinks teens in the US are much more mature than teens in England, he observed this when he came to visit me, I think he's wrong, what do you think?

Why would someone think American teens are more mature than teens in England?
He is wrong to generalize like that. Probably he might be saying that according to the values necessary in American culture that English teens may be immature, but more than likely American teens would be considered immature according to British values
Reply:I think everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
Reply:um i think this has got to do woth the way brit teens are projected by the media... i mean i hav often read teenage brits to be a little more rash, snobbish, intolerant and indifferent.i dont endorse these views though since i dont hav ne brit frnds but this is wot ive come across many a time
Reply:LOL!!! Yeah, they are SO much more mature! That's why so many of them get knocked up before graduating highschool. They're SO mature, it's too bad they're not smart enough to figure out birth control and that drinking and driving is bad and....
Reply:It might be because it's much harder for American teens to get their hands on alcohol, on account of the ridiculously high drinking age.
Reply:I think he is wrong ...not because I know any teens from Britain but because I know first hand that American teens are too self absorbed, self delusional, too zealous in accepting "pop" culture. The current generation is less likely to accept responsibility for anything than any previous generation I've had dealings with.

In short American teens are much more immature than at any point in our history. IMHO
Reply:Your freind shouldnt go around classifying the entire teenage population based on the ones he met. Maybe he was more mature than the ones he met. Some ppl are just more childish than others. I personally think its about the same, it depends on the individual you meet not whether their from the mother coutry or not. Ive met teens from england and they act the same to me. Ive met teens from a lot of different contries and i think from personal experience that british teens, as well as any other teen act as mature as American teens...it all depends on the teens personality not thier country.

Teens into the punk scene...Dad needs your help...please.?

Well...my 16 yr. old son is now someone I don't really recognize. He's still my son and I love him with all my heart but confess that I have a tough time accepting the 2 nose rings and the tight clothes etc that's part of the punk scene that he's found to help identify himself.

You know, my parents likely thought I was an alien when I was his age, with hair past my shoulder, jeans and jean jackets and the like. So, I do understand that everyone needs to find their own paths, friends and scenes.

The hair (sides shaved, middle dyed blonde and long), the clothing and the nose rings are one thing but he just doesn't seem to care about school (flunked his first course last yr) and other responsibilities any more. I truly don't see any signs of heavy drug use but......I just can't seem to reach him.

Parents with this experience or other teens into the punk scene....I would sincerely appreciate your feedback, suggestions and comments. I love my son and feel like I'm losing him...

Teens into the punk scene...Dad needs your help...please.?
Here is the thing, he doesn't want to talk to you because you're an adult who is like any adult a little worried way he dresses. You don't understand his fashion sense and think it's weird. The goal of Punk is to make a statment, "You're old, and you don't get me and your judgemental cause you think I'm doing drugs" It's very complicated, and I could write a six page essay about and only scrape the surface. Don't acuse him of drugs unless you have proof (hard for you parents). Flunking is unacceptable, so you can exercise any sort of motivation to bring it up. Say he wants a guitar, tell him he get a guitar if he pulls up his grades. Trust me, you'll NEVER get it ever so don't try to change him. :/
Reply:being punk is a way of rebelling. he just wants you to look at him and say no no no. but if you agree with him on a lot of stuff, take interest in what he wears and how he acts, he'll become disinterested and find his way back to being "normal" as one might say faster.

TEENS: Would you like...?

Hey teenagers! Would you like your parents choosing your friends for you or would you prefer choosing them yourself? I'm doing a survey for a teens mag and it would be helpful if u could provide your full name, age and the school u go 2 (including ur country).

TEENS: Would you like...?
I would rather not disclose my name or school, but I am 17 and live in the U.S. I honestly am in the middle on this. On one hand, I want to have the freedom to choose my own friends, but I also trust my mom well enough to choose people who will be good friends to me. She knows my personality.

Hope I helped. Good luck :)
Reply:as a parent of a teenager your question bothers me who are you to ask these kids their full names!!!!!I have never read a mag. that asked for a full name unles it was a fake name!!!!!!!!!!!!! Report It

Reply:i would prefer to pick my own friends.

Teens and cribs?

Ok, my friend said that there are cribs for teens. Is that true?

Teens and cribs?
Your friend means their house. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph...
Reply:Why would you wanna put a teen in an actual crib?

There are ...hospital beds with rails .. for old and sick people. Kinda like cribs I guess. But not for teens. Unless your friend meant "crib" as in place/house.
Reply:Yeah..their own room with all kind of video games in it!
Reply:what?

Teens between 13 to 15 studying calculus?
HEY there r indeed a lot of them!!!

I myself was one among them.

TEENS ONLY! Boy troubles.?

I like this guy, Jake, but he likes one of my best friends. He really does NOT like me! I wanna be able to go to homecoming with him! PLEASE HELP!

I am SO sorry thaty I put this in this catagory but, I know this is where teens hang out :)

TEENS ONLY! Boy troubles.?
You can't force the guy to like you or to have him go with you. . .
Reply:hmm..you say that he likes your friend and not you, eh?

Well, there is not that great of a chance he'll go with you.

Put yourself in Jake's perspective.
Reply:Let the idea go. Leave him alone. It's best for you and him.
Reply:Spread bad rumors of your friend, all kinds of crap, make sure to personally let him know of a few.

The players change, but the game stays the same
Reply:just ask him to go with you just as friends!! my friend was in the same situation and did that... they kissed that night.. and theyre still going out now!!! good luck!! :)
Reply:maybe you should go to homecoming with someone that likes you and wants to go with you.

:]

good luckkk.
Reply:theres no real way to make a guy like you.

do somethimg to make him notice you, what does he like? talk to him more oftn and i hope your not doing the whole rude comment thing to eachother. if you are stop it now if you aren't don't start it. hope that helps a little?
Reply:If he doesn't like you, he probably won't go to homecoming with you. I don't know what else to tell you, but own up to the fact he doesn't like you.
Reply:You really can't make someone like you. It's hard, I know, but there's not much you can do.

If you really are determined, then talk to your friend first. If she likes him back, you need to know so you don't go after him. You don't want to screw up what you have with her. If she doesn't like him, then just try to be nice to him and show that you and your friend get along. Ask your friend to make it clear to him that she's not interested so he can move on from her. Then maybe he'll notice you.
Reply:Move on! you dont want to seem deseperate, thats very unattractive and gives more power to him knowing he is something you can't have! There are way more fishes in the sea, fish for another.
Reply:you have to face the truth. he wont go to homecoming with you if he doesn't like you. sorry.

Teens who give advise to authors?

Some young adult authors ask teens to read their books before they are finished, and then they ask them for advise. I don't know any authors personally, but I would really like to get involved. Does anyone know of any clubs or groupes I could join, or have any suggestions?

Teens who give advise to authors?
This is called Beta Reading. If you write to a particular author and offer to become a Beta Reader, many authors keep lists of those who offer and contact them when they have something they are interested in getting opinions on.

As for the above group, I would advise them to do some serious research into trends in publishing before posting and sharing work online. At the present time, virtually NO publishers will even read anything that has been previously posted online due to plagiarism and the chain of ownership issues. If you have any interest in seeing your work ever actually published, do NOT post it online. It is a guaranteed rejection. Pax - C
Reply:Just post signs at bookstores %26amp; libraries, I'm sure a teen who's interested in reading would see it there.
Reply:my group! Creative Authors United -- open to anyone who loves to write anything they want; creative writing, poems, lyrics, short stories, novels - the people who join can ask advice on their pieces and they will be answered. Most members are very active, although there's only 8 of us so far. This group was just started, but great.

here's the link -- free to join, so go ahead and do it! haha

Teens!!!!! Whats under your.........?

BED right now??? My husband yells about finding a little candy wrapper in my 15 year old sons room but I keep telling him its NORMAL! Im trying to show him thru this question that its completely normal for a teens room to be a little messy!!!! He gets all bent out of shape over little things and I keep telling him all kids do it so please help me out by answering this for me! Thanks sooooo much!

Teens!!!!! Whats under your.........?
my stepdad was the same way now i live on my own and am married and there is still juck under my bed tell him that his energy can be used for future battles that might actually matter this is stupid and will cause the son in question to care less and listen less so you will have a real problem when it comes to important things and if the only thing your husband can find to get mad about is this you have a damn good son he should be praised my sisters were doing pot at his age and me and him get yelled at for an imperfect room kinda made me want to give my step dad something to ***** about dont let your son be pushed to that
Reply:well i got a pullout bed under mine..but when it wasnt there..it was messy adn mym mom would make me clean it every so often...but not like every day.
Reply:haha the husband

no offense but you must talk this over with him

yelling at him will seriously make him feel guilty if something isnt clean

i dont even know whats under my bed!
Reply:at least ur husband is not finding a condom, girls clothes,or a pack of cigs or a vodka bottle in the room
Reply:I have alot of stuff under my bed, from clothes to books to pictures. Its normal for teen's room to be messy. It just that I don't find enough time in my day to really worry about it. I rather be on the phone, on the internet, playing playstation, I'm at work or just out with friends. There's no time to clean our rooms. We have our whole lives to worry about that type of stuff so we don't bother with it right now.
Reply:nothing. im a virgo. perfection.
Reply:I'm 14 and under my bed there are shoes, but no candy wrappers lol My mom told me if she finds a candy wrapper under my bed that she will make me clean everyday. Plus I have a trash can to throw away papers and garbage. Other then that your husband is a clean freak. From what I know many teenagers do have candy wrappers under there beds and papers and this is normal for a teen. Only I have learned never to have trash on my floor or else I will get in trouble and some of my privileges will be taken away. I think being neat and clean is nice, but then it takes the fun away of being a teenager. Your husband reminds me allot of my mom. I'm actually scared of my mom when it comes to cleaning. She does not like any trash or wrappers on the floor. I think that's why our house is so clean and I know for a fact that she too is a clean freak. I think your husband should take a chill pill because anyways at one point your son will clean his room. Only my mom has a hard time getting it through her head. She always says she is preparing us for when we have a house. Only I believe that she is taking away the fun of being a teenager and the fun of acting like one too. Well Good Luck on your husband and your son.

Ciao~
Reply:im not kidding on this...books (physics, calculus, spanish...school stuff), dress shoes, a breifcase?!, thats about it, but i have to admit, i obsses about organization...most of the time
Reply:ha ha im 17 and i have things all over my room expecally candy lol
Reply:i have a ***** candy store under my bed
Reply:A sock, the bag from the school clothes I bought her, one pencil, and a small bottle of perfume with an airheads wrapper stuck to it.
Reply:HOney first of all ,if your husband is "yelling @ YOU because of this,What the hell is his Problem ????!!!! You are an equal partner !!He can't take any part in helping here???And yes it IS normal to find MANY things in your teens room!! IF that is all you have to worry about finding you better COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS THAT IT IS'NT DOPE,NEEDLES ETC!!!! I would be happy to find candy wrappers any day!!!!!
Reply:OMG my daughter's room looks like a tornado just went through it. Tell your husband to chill and shut the door to the bedroom.

Kids are definitely messy.

They have the rest of their lives to keep stuff cleaned up.

I think he is worrying about nothing and that it will cause him and his son to have a bad relationship. It's not worth fighting over.

If I want my daughter to clean her room, I bribe her...with money of course...but for the most part -- it's a sty. She knows where everything is. Her clothes she wears are clean each day (the dirty stuf finds its way into the laundry) and her school work gets done and she gets good grades. Why make a big deal out of being messy?
Reply:well im 19 and under my bed im affriad to look , somthing might bite me, no seriously . i have garbage from fastfoods, probebly a cat, who knows what else
Reply:There is my carpet under my bed. Well my parents are complete clean freaks so we vacuum dust and do everything else everyday my brother and I have to clean under everything and when we're gone my stepmom cleans our rooms.WOW i have a real clean room I see all my friends rooms and they're all messy i just want to clean them because i'm not used to it
Reply:Um.

You're husband is a clean freak.
Reply:my kids have clothes, shoes, some toys, and I always, always, always find candy wrappers. Not that they put that all there though, we don't know who put it there, the mystery continues.....hmmmmmm. Tell Hubby he needs to relax, it could be alot worse! Like dishes!
Reply:trash, newspapers, books, cups, shoes, paper, candy wrappers, my violin, more trash, actualy under my bed its overflowing of trash im a messy person
Reply:Iam 15 and there is a CRAP load of stuff under my bed. Candy wrappers, socks, clothes, game console controllers, wires, games, papers, school books, WAY TO MUCH TO PUT IN THIS. It is normal for a kid my age and other teens to get stuff under there bed. Just make sure they clean it like once a week....or atleast rearrange it?
Reply:I'm afraid to go in my sons bedroom.something might attack me and i'll never be found.
Reply:Well I'm a teen and I have a loft bed which is just the top part of a bunk bed. So I have a computer, a bookshelf and other junk under my bed
Reply:is your husband a neat freak? well anyway, i'm 13 and i used to have my journal, socks, papers, and various other crap under my bed. i just cleaned it out. and yes it is normal
Reply:i have a box of hot wheels, a condom, drawing paper...that's about it.

I'm 14 and my dad was like that.
Reply:Its very normal!!
Reply:I dont have anything under my bed. But thats because I am an organization freak and I have a housekeeper that comes and cleans. All teens are messy.
Reply:Ummm... At least they dont have magazines (ones you dont' want to see) under the bed...

But for a normal teen, there are candy wrappers everywhere, cloths on the floor, shoues in od places.. papers and books all over the desk and floor... cups and a plate or two by the computer... etc...

It sounds like a couple of wrappers under the bed or in the room is not a big thing... I'd say congradulate your son for actually not being a slob of a teenagers... If the room has been dusted in the last year and vacumed in the last six, it is a improvement over the norm...
Reply:sounds liek ur husband lieks everything clean. and if that is the way he feels then stay up to date and clean things more often. its not that big of a problem...i would be worrying about if my 15 year old son eats too much candy instead of seeing the candy wrapper under his bed. btw... whats under my bed is no ones buisness lol
Reply:shirts and my luggage set
Reply:Why is he even looking under the bed???? I'd say if he wants to find something more interesting then a stupid candy wrapper then look in the closet under or in the hamper... thats where my brother keeps all his nudy mags..... I find them every time I'm doing laundry.... or in his drawers..... but a candy wrapper... how pathetic.... poor kid.
Reply:r u kiddin my room is messy as hell and im around that age i hav more then a candy wrapper! its perfectly normal wen there older they will be more responsible and cleaner its a faze all teenagers go through
Reply:lets see:

a shoe i've been lookin for

some empty bottles

2 magazines

a ball

bunch of trash

a cd

a disposable camera

and a lot more junk

tell him to stop worrying so much. a kids room is allowed to be messy. it's the one place in the house that they should be able to keep however they want.

TEENS-IBS got any advice.? plz?

any teens out there who got ibs with any advice on how to deal with school etc...

im 19 yrs old.

I mean is it possible for u to live a normal life like everyone else. Lets say, if ts Dating, goin out..n just even enjoyin life. I remember how much i was excited about life before i had this condition (6 months already)which were the rest 18 years. Its like im just trying to live with the memories already..cuz this really effects my life..n i just dont look at life the same way. Any of you feel like this? Thanks for your answrs.

TEENS-IBS got any advice.? plz?
Uuuuum, I'm not a teen but I can give you really good advice for IBS conditions. I've had it my whole life and have only just managed to finally sort through all the rabble to work out how to feel really good all the time!!!

1. Intolerances to both gluten and lactose usually go hand in hand with IBS symptoms. To decipher whether you have either/both simply eliminate gluten (the nasty one that causes the huge swollen rock hard tummies) first for a week and take note of your symptoms. Try focusing on plenty of fresh fruit and vegies, lean meats, fish and chicken, nuts and seeds (ground up or they will definitely give you big tummy aches) and loads of pure filtered water. I have found the chlorine, yep that stuff you put in the pool, added by the Government to our tap water to "purify" our tap water only further complicates my already irritated and sensitive body. Funny that !! Just go to any major department store and buy yourself a 3 litre water filter jug for about $30.00 AUD and filter all your water through it.

2. Next, eliminate all your milk and dairy products for a week and take note of your symptoms. If you usually have wet gassiness (sorry I kno that's gross but its the only way to explain it !! lol ) then you are most likely lactose intolerant. By substituting all your milk with a milk substitute such as soy/rice/goats milk you won't be missing out so to speak. I like the soy cos of its nutty flavor. Depends what your preference is, rice milk is very sweet and apparently goats milk is very easy to digest because of the smaller fat globules it has.

Keeping a food diary will also help immensely. by writing the time and food/drink you had and then recording how you felt afterwards, you will be more accurate in pinpointing foods/drinks that upset your system.

You need to ensure that you are getting at least 1300 mg daily of calcium. Calcium is easy peasy to find in food. Foods rich in calcium are:

Salmon, tuna, sardines, spinach collard greens, okra, white beans, baked beans, peas, brussell sprouts, sesame seeds, bok choy and almonds.

Or, simply get a milk substitute that has been fortified with extra calcium and protein.

As far protein goes here's the formula to ensure you get enough on a daily basis, assuming you're lactose intolerant you can't afford to simply cut out whole food groups you have to accomodate and ensure no deficiency occurs in your body.

Multiply 0.79 by your current weight.

the result will be your daily protein requirement in grams.

Example: You weigh 60 kilos and are 33 years old (haha lol, jus an example remember)

0.79 x 60 = 47 g - your daily protein requirement.

Oh, o.k. I'll do it!!

0.79 x 57kilos (???? did I get it right) = 45 grams of protein daily.

Hmmmm, that was silly, now wasn't it !!! Sorry, I'll refocus.......hehehe. Jus trying to make you laugh girl, I know precisely what you've been going through !!

3. For each and every coffee/tea/soda/soft drink/diet soft drink you have you need to replace it with 12 glasses of water !!! Yep, I nearly fell off my chair too when I found out that one. What happens is that the caffeine tricks our bodies into thinking that we have plenty of water to spare, hence all the peeshing after drinking all these caffeinated drinks. Just avoid them like the plague !! To stay hydrated you need to halve your body weight and have that amount of water in ounces daily. So............. I'm 2,000 pounds (lol haha not telling you) half of that is 1,000 pounds, therefore you'd need to drink 1,000 ounces of water daily (in the land of pretend remember!!) ie: 8 ounces of water = 1 glass. I'm really 148 pounds and I need 10 glasses of water daily simply to stay hydrated.

4. Get yourself some organic apple cider vinegar and put two tablespoons full into a glass of cold water 1/2 hour before meals and drink up. This will encourage the production of hydrochloric acid in your stomach and aid digestion.

5. Try to eat loads of salad vegies, ie: spinach, lettuce, kale, okra , with lunch/dinner as they are full of vitamin B6 and B6 is essential for the production of hydrochloric acid !! I certainly wish I'd known this particular tidbit earlier !!

Foods rich in Vitamin B6 are:Meats, whole grains, organ meats, brewer's yeast, blackstrap molasses (treacle tasting natural sweetner usually added to things like gingerbread men), peas, beans and lentils, cantalope, cabbage, unmilled rice, eggs, oats, peanuts and walnuts. If you include some/one of these at each meal you'll be leaps and bounds ahead of all the others.

did you know what else B6 does?? It 's not only essential for the production of hydrochloric acid but is needed to properly absorb B12, it is also needed to produce magnesium (the anti stress mineral) in the body and lastly it is need to produce the mood enhancing neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine in the brain !! You know, the feel good drugs !! (Natural ones of course).

6. Buy yourself some linseeds and crush about 1 tablespoon full and sprinkle over your salads, vegies on a daily basis. this should keep you regular.

7. Lastly, for those tummy bloat outs that you just can't get rid of??? Put 1 teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of cold water and mix well. Then drink up. This will realkalise the acid condition of your tummy that is causing the bloating/gassiness/acid reflux. The human body works best at a slightly alkaline level of 7. Honestly, some of the food we put into our bodies like soft drinks have a ph level of about 2.5 !! This means when you have a soda/soft drink you ingesting something that's thousands of times more acid than your body and expecting your body to lap it up and be happy !! ........................... Anyways, now that I've totally ear smashed you, sorry I do tend to ramble on a bit!! I'm just really keen to help you as I truly do know what a painful condition it is !!

**********EDIT********

Oops, nearly forgot, try not to have large meals in one sitting. Too much for your tummy to cope with at once. Instead, try having say 5 - 6 smaller meals (kiddie size) per day. Oh, you know, jus small !!..............:0)

PEACE %26amp; LIGHT 2 U
Reply:My mom has this. Best way to deal is to wear some extra protection down there besides underwear, depending on how yours is. That way if you have an accident you won't have to be running to the bathroom necessarily immediately and can be more relaxed about it. My mom has to go all the time sometimes and others is just fine, but protection will help you feel more confident. Try to reduce your stress level if possible. This is what caused hers. If you have the kind w/constipation, try to eat more fiber like in shredded wheat.

Yahoo Answers for Teens?

Who thinks there should be a Yahoo Answers for Teens with more age appropriate categories (including children 12 and under who seem to think they're already teenagers)? I find it disturbing when I see teens posting answers to clearly sexual questions?

I know we can't censor children from everything in life, but when a 10 year old wants to know how to plan his next date or a 12 year old girl is debating sex with her 15 year old bf, a line has been crossed and since their parents aren't being responsible maybe someone else has to set boundaries.

Yahoo Answers for Teens?
Amen!! :)
Reply:I like the idea.
Reply:That's a good idea, but I do think that some of the teens really benefit from hearing advice from us "older" folks who have already been there-done that.
Reply:i put almost the same question on yesterday, i think it was, saying about a site for under 16"s, and everyone agreed, dont know how to go about it, coz u cant get through to yahoo, think they are a figment of our imaginations!!!!!
Reply:Well, kids under 13 aren't supposed to be on Yahoo unless their parents set up a family account anyway. You can report minors (under 13 in this case) to Yahoo and they may remove them.

Whether or not their are categories for sexual questions in a Answers for Teens, they will most likely still ask them. I agree that it's disturbing, but it's hard to prevent.
Reply:I don't think a 10 year old is allowed to be on Yahoo! Answers, or a 12 year old for that matter.

What difference would it make anyway? It's not that hard to make another account and lie about your age.

Plus, a minor section would be a hotbed for pedophiles.
Reply:I think you are right. Not only young children see sexual based questions but also racist and religious. The way they think and act can be influenced by those negative aspects of Y Answers. Those responsible for the management of this site should set up stricter rules as to which question should be posted and which should not...A site for young teens isn't such a good idea because older people with mental problems can still post questions there. Y Answers teem should delete more of the inappropriate questions here!
Reply:it all starts at home so whats it say about the parents?
Reply:I guess so..it doesn't matter to me
Reply:Second that
Reply:I agree. But, as you said, the parents are to blame. They should monitor their kids' computer use at all times. Kids are so slick these days, they tell their parents that they're doing homework and then they get online and ask all kinds of stupid questions or go in chat rooms.
Reply:While I agree I also realize that if you create a place for them that is just for teens, they won't want to go there. It's like being sent to their room. Just won't happen.

What do you think about teens who marry right out of high school and have kids young?

I have a friend who dated this girl at school since he was 15.

He got married a few months after high school at 19, and then had a baby with his wife when he was 20.

He is 23 years old now and is MISERABLE.

He has no college education so he works at a sporting good store while his wife stays home with their child.

He says he feels he has messed up and his life will never be how he wanted it.

Even though he was a teen he should have seen the warning flags:

His girlfriend was threatening to leave him if he didn’t marry her right away!

And then she demanded to have a kid immediately after the wedding.

No one hangs out with him anymore because he and his wife are always fighting and seem unhappy.

I think teens can wait longer if they REALLY love each other. What’s with these teen girls demanding a marriage and children?

What do you think?

What do you think about teens who marry right out of high school and have kids young?

Reply:I guess I was a lucky one! I married 2 weeks after graduation and had my first child at 19.I have been married over 16 years! Of course there's ups and downs in any relationship, but if the downs are used as lessons things can be okay. I'm sorry things haven't went as well for your friend.♥
Reply:Well statistically speaking the marriage has a very low chance of working out. I actually know someone who did this and they have been married over 20 years, so there is always the exception. People should wait until they are old enough to make this kind of decision. 18 years old is still very young. Why not wait until you are settled into a career first, and have an opportunity to live in the real world for awhile.
Reply:It's terrible. I think if u really loved this person u can wait for the person, u don't need to get married right away and then start a family. These people need to grow up.
Reply:I had a child at 18 and married at 21, i dont think i'm doing too badly we're pretty happy and everything! Each scenario is different, maybe they should try marriage guidance to work through their problems? If they are willing to give that a go it's worth a shot, if not perhaps they should sit down and talk about this as rationally as they can. Its not great for the child to hear mommy and daddy fighting. Best of luck to them who they can settle things amicably whichever road they take.
Reply:I think they are too young. I made sure that I enjoyed life and explored all kinds of things in life. I never settled down till I was out of college. I may have been a bit promiscuos at times but at least I had fun. Now i'm settled down and have my first son and I'm 30. I'm glad I waited. I see so many of my friends who are in their early 20's settling down and I think they should enjoy their youth while they can.
Reply:Well, he got caught into a classic case of 'being whipped'. She owned him hard, and theres nothing good to do now. If they split, the child will grow up in a single parent home. If they stay together, they may continue to fight. They must learn to work differences out, not for them, but for the good of their child. Thats whats important -- the life of the child, not theirs.
Reply:well, from my personal experience, it's up to the individual. i married not long after high school ended, my husband and i were together 6 months when we got engaged, 18 months later we married, we now have a beautifull daughter and another on the way...years after our first date and we have never been happier!

by the sound of it, he's a fool, if my partner said, marry me or i'll leave you, i would have said SEE YA! u marry for love, not cos u were threatened too. what a tool. if he isn't happy, introduce him to the words "councelling" or "divorce" hope this helps!
Reply:You go through so much growing between the ages of 18 and 25. It's really like a second adolescence. So I think getting married during that time can inhibit self-discovery and mature decision making. Waiting until your mid-20s greatly increases your chances of having a successful and stable marriage.
Reply:foolish really. puppy love now turned rabid. just got caught up with everything and didn't really think it through. now they both have to live with their decisions.
Reply:its inresponsible
Reply:I got married 4 months after I graduated high school. I was 18 and my husband was 21. We will be married 2 years in august and we are happy. We dated on and off from the time I was 13. Don't get me wrong we have had our share of problems since we have been married and we have almost gotten a divorce but we worked hard and we are happier then ever. Now we are trying to get pregnant and have our first kid. I am 20 and he is 23. I dont regret what I did and would do it all over again. And I sure don't think I was too young. If "teens" really love each other why should they have to wait. The choice is theres. It doesnt matter if your 18,28 or 38 if you don't put in the effort to marriage and a family you are going to be miserable. I think it just depends on the person. Alot of people say they regret getting married so young and others say it is the best thing. I want to grow and change with my husband not alone. If i want to go party and hang out I want him there. Thats how it should be and some "teens" dont understand that when they get married. But I don't think people should say that ALL "teens" should wait to have kids and get married because some of them are mature enough and really will ejoy life more as a family. I know i enjoy it more being a wife then being single and I cant wait to be a mother. Hopefully before I'm 21....
Reply:I was in a similar situation that finally ended in divorce. I married the day after prom to my high school sweet heart. We had a child at 20. We were divorced at 23. Looking back I feel like we just married for all the wrong reasons. Lust instead of love or maybe it was just a way for me to get away from my small town life. He was in the Marine Corp and I wanted to be with him. (we were engaged for 9 months while he was deployed overseas) If we were married we could be together. I think sometimes young people just don't know how hard life is until it slaps them in the face.

We also don't see the awesome side of the world. We don't realize how many opportunities are out there for us as single people. I'm 26 and divorced now raising our 5 year old daughter. If I could change it all I don't know if I would because of her. But I do know that I have learned some very important life lessons.
Reply:I think a lot of people who start early, end up like your friend. I don't think that they fully evaluate the possible consequences, the inability to continue school and get a good job, for example. I think that if they really loved each other, they would wait and make sure that the marriage is what is best for both of them. I also don't agree with getting married just to stop someone from breaking up with you. That does not sound like a good foundation for a relationship.
Reply:what makes you think its always the teen girl demanding the marriage? My husband and I met when I was 17. He was 19. we were friends for a year.. dating other people.. and ended up together when I turned 18. we moved in together, and lived together for one year before getting engaged. I wanted to wait 4 years to get married, and he brought up a very valid point. we lived together, we shared the bills, we shared a life.. why wait for marriage? He wanted to be man and wife.. we were married one year after getting engaged. We now have a beautiful 17 month old, and I am expecting our second child next spring.

To each his own, many of my friends who are exactly my age are too immature to be married... however they also have different lives. We both have college degrees and steady jobs we are happy with.. You cannot judge an entire group of people.. its a case by case thing.. sure some teens may be in too much of a hurry to get married... but that is their mistake to make and not our place to judge ;)

PS.. my 'rents have been married for 26 years.. they got married when they were 19 and 23. they both were in college at the time and are still just as happy today as they were in the 80's :)
Reply:I think that it is wrong and irresponsible. My cousin has a sister who is barely 16 and not even married but still has two children. and your right if they truly loved each other than they wouldn't force one another to marry, have children, or even both at such a young age.

Can it be true? Sex Education Linked to Delay in Teens having Sex? Why or why not?

New research was finally conducted to find out the affects of sex ed on teen sexual activity. What did they find out from 2,000 teens?

"Male teens who received sex education in school were 71 percent less likely — and similarly educated female teens were 59 percent less likely — to have sexual intercourse before age 15."

Sex Education Linked To Delayed Teen Intercourse:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...

What were some of the myths teens had about sex?

"Some still believe you can’t get pregnant if you’re standing up or doing it for the first time or if your boyfriend is drinking a lot of Mountain Dew."

Can it be true? Sex Education Linked to Delay in Teens having Sex? Why or why not?
I think it could be true and it is even logical if you think about it. Usually knowledge leads to good decisions and ignorance leads to bad decisions. Nothing revolutionary about that concept. Only the abstinence only fanatics seem to believe ignorance is the way to go.

Don't forget a liberal country like the Netherlands has the lowest teen pregnancy rate in the world.

Abstinence only is not only illogical as illustrated above but also Utopian. I think you need policies that work in the real world
Reply:Thank you. I liked the knowledge is power statement. Very true Report It

Reply:wow, i knew many teens thought they couldnt get pregnant the 1st time but didn't realize the myth about standing up or drinking mt. dew!

we are in serious need of frank discussions with our teens, esp. living in today's hypersexualized society.

thanks for sharing the article.
Reply:could be very true...think of this...right now in USA society we have the most populated obese children ...... law makers made PE not required in schools so many schools cut it out....well if we had PE required in schools maybe we wouldnt have this problem.........hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Reply:I believe it. Knowledge is power.

I've seen some pretty interesting myths on sex on Yahoo! Answers like if the girl is on top she can't get pregnant, you can tell someone has an std just by looking at them, douching afterwards will prevent pregnancy, pulling out will prevent pregnancy, etc. Can't be that far off from what some teens (and adults) think.
Reply:I am honestly stunned by the lack of knowledge people have about their bodies. That people still believe crap like that in this day and age is amazing. I had the most basic form of sex ed and even I knew better than that. Parents need to have a open frank discussion with their kids about sex. People need to realize that just because you are educated it isn't true that you will run off and have sex. And if you did, you will at least be informed and less likely to believe crap.

Teens- Does being fat make a person a loser? Read details...?

I asked my daughter this morning why the one shirt (without an undershirt) was a problem and pointed out that she used to wear things like that all the time. (She was throwing a fit because her one undershirt was not cleaned in enough time to pair it up with a nice form fitting t-shirt- it wasn't like anything showed through, it just wasn't the style she wanted)

My daughter said to me "Well that was when I was a loser" implying when she was heavier she was a loser. (She has lost 67 LBS in less than 9 months and is now 99.4 LBS at 5'2"- yes, she is anorexic)

My question- Do most teens think that heavy people are losers or is that just a side effect of the anorexia? What do you think?

Teens- Does being fat make a person a loser? Read details...?
I think she has a dilluted self image. Im a big girl, not to big but big none the less. I have always been popular and I have always had alot of friends. She has to learn its not what you look like that makes up who you are. She is obviously not comfortable with herself so you need to help her with that, and yes grouchiness is a side affect of anorexia just think if you haddent eaten in forever you'd be grouchy too lol. I would get her help eat disorders are soo hard to overcome by themselves, its not something that shes just going to grow out of. Make sure you tell her that after high school the world is sooo much different and people come in all different shapes and sizes just because your big doesnt make you a loser
Reply:Thats good you are trying to get her help.

almost all kids think that fat kids are dumb and uncool, its sad but true. Hopefully you have already gotten your daughter into treatment for anorexia? Not all problems can be solved on yahoo answers.
Reply:Unfortunately I judged people for their weight and I regret it.
Reply:I*m not a teen but no fat people are not loosers!!!!!!! They are people too!!!!!
Reply:well you child is obviously sick in her head... and you need to do something about it. I think people who starve to get thin are the REAL losers.. I think defining looks to whether they are a loser or not is just ridiculous. If you look outside at the real world, there are so many other things in life that makes a person a loser. Like having no self respect, having no brains, etc etc...
Reply:I personally do not think people who are obese are losers! That is such a generalization. Weight does not make you who you are, and people who think so need to meet more people and open their minds. Does how much you weigh change your personality? I think not.

I also think that this would be a side effect of anorexia, as anorexia makes one constantly think one is fat.
Reply:You stated "yes, she is anerexic", I wouldn't be asking strangers about what others think of heavier people, I would be getting her some help and fast.

Being fat or thin will be the least of your/her problem if this isn't delt with.
Reply:I would be more worried about her having anorexia than about her being a "loser."
Reply:No, just look at notorious B-I-G.
Reply:no!!
Reply:most ppl think that, but i dont. all that matters is if you like who you are if your healthy. i rather have curves then none at all.
Reply:The majority of teenaged girls..and most boys..do.

I think it has a lot to do with the media..and portraying skinny to be pretty..and flawless.

That's fake.

Beautiful comes in all different shapes and sizes, real talk.

There is not magical age that signals when teenager is ready to enter a relationship, but being able to keep a pet alive, having a some money of your own, and a demonstrated ability to make rational decisions when the need is there (kids make mistakes, a lot. But what is important is the decision they make when it matters most) are good markers.

Teens 12-15...Contraceptive Injection?

Ok I dont mean to offend any mothers who had a baby very young because I'm sure some of you are perfectly able parents.. but lets face it most girls this age arn't able to look after a baby properly and end up ruining certain area's of their life in many ways.

I'm not sure you if you should to force girls 12-15 to get the CI..but incourage it somehow. I am very lucky to have not got pregnant at 13 I remember having emotional problems at this age %26amp; felt very unloved and empty %26amp; I confusedly thought having a child would shake my life up and fill the void-I would have ruint my life- So just educating girls about contraception may not delay pregnancy because alot of girls this age want to get pregnant in my opinion.

The injection lasts 6 months. So that is 6 injections per girl over 3 years. Maybe we should give it like a school vaccine. Come on its much better than an abortion or a young teens life made so so difficult.

We need to still teach them about condoms cause of std's

Agree?

Teens 12-15...Contraceptive Injection?
I'm 18 and am expecting my first child in June. I'm very happy about it, don't get me wrong, but I think that most people couldn't handle it and the ages just keep getting younger (12, 13, 14). My fiance and I have decided to put any daughters we have on birth control when they start their period, and to keep a condom jar somewhere (like under the bathroom sink) thats up for grabs for who ever needs them. I might not like that my children are having sex, but it is a part of life and its not anything that you can stop. I think that parents need to take a bigger part in raising their children and talking to them about sex, instead of relying on the school. I want my kids to be able to talk to me about it, and I will have all sorts of infomation around the house for them so if they have questions they can get reliable answers. I feel that schools and clinics should be able to offer birth control to teens without the consent of the parents, there would be a lot fewer kids getting pregnant. Good Luck
Reply:No. Messing with their hormones is not the way to go. There are enough problems with infertility amongst women in their 20s and later as it is - because of birth control, hormones in food, environmental factors, etc.

How about having family values and morals, from a very young age... or is that just too old fashioned? Well, it seems to have worked really well amongst my family and friends.
Reply:Depo only lasts 3 months so that's 4 injections a year.

I do not recommend this type of birth control to anyone, especially teenagers. It has various side effects that are not worth it in any way, and I know from personal experience.

I definitely think that any one of any age should have access to birth control. It's great if they have that type of relationship with their parents, but if not they should have access to reliable and affordable medical care. They should most especially have the knowledge that they have this care available if they need it.

I went to high school literally 1 block away from a FREE adolescent family center of an award winning hospital. However, I did not find out about it until I had to take a pregnancy test (positive).

Teens should know that contraceptives are the best option after abstinence because condoms DO fail (as was the case for me).

Forcing anyone to do anything. however, is ethically disgusting. Shame on you.
Reply:I don't agree it should not become a school vaccine! Knowing that they are protected would encourage the girls to have sex knowing that they can't get pregnant. It might lower the pregnancy rate but it would increase the STD rate which is worse in my opinion. Catching something like HIV or AIDS is worse then having a child at a young age.

Once a girl starts her period you should discuss with her that she can now get pregnant if she has sex and discuss contraceptive options if she chooses to become sexual active. Hopefully you can creat a very open line of communication with your daughter to where she will come to you and you can take her to get on birth control when she needs it.

All birth control affects women differently. That shot may be ok for one woman but be horriable for another. I tried the shot one time %26amp; I will NEVER do it again. The side effects were horriable.
Reply:Hey. I have to say I do not agree. Some girls do not have sex until they are over 16 or 18 or whenever. It is there choice and they should not be forced into taking things they do not want to. The goverment would never agree this because of free will. Every girls goes through there teens in a stupid way but what you are suggesting is just silly.
Reply:Are we talking about Depo-provera? Women who use this are at risk for loss of bone density (osteoporosis, anyone?). It's not recommended for use for longer than two years. There should be a ban on vaccinations. There is no logical reason to put those dangerous ingredients in your body.

We need to educate children OURSELVES instead of leaving it up to schools and peers to do it for us. We need to be actively involved. I often wonder if these girls aren't able to look after a child because they are babied themselves. Their lives are only ruined because they are shamed and taught to give up.
Reply:I don't think teens or kids need hormone injections. These hormones mess with the brain. I don't see how that's even healthy. I think teens need parents who will step up to the plate and chaperone them.
Reply:I think in this day and age parents need to start early with teaching children about sex and their bodies. How to act mature and responsible w/o compromising yourself/values.. Yes, teaching children morals and values- WOW ! What a concept ! Also, engaging your children in extracurricular activites and spending time together keeps children's idle time to a minimum... Open/honest conversations about sex/relationships and birthcontrol shouldn't be overlooked or seen as only something children should learn in sex education.

If I had a daughter I would have them put on birth control and learn about condom use as soon as they started their period. I have two boys and they will DEFINETLY be given a stern/honest talking to about behaving as gentlemen and being responsible for themselves sexually.

good luck
Reply:Sorry. As much as I hate the idea of "babies having babies" you can't force a medication on a person without their consent. It's not like vaccines where other people's health is also in jeopardy. Having a baby as a teen only hurts a few people (I know, I know, society, wellfare, blah blah... I'm taking physically here).

The point is, we live in a so called "free" country. Even people with mental disorders are allowed to legally deny medication. Hey, ideally, if it were up to me, I'd pull a china and only let people have 1 kid. There are too many people on this planet as is. But, I'm also not crazy or evil. As much as I've chosen to not have children, other people have the right to choose when, and how many they want.

I think it would be great though if we freely offered BC to girls, and quit making it so taboo. Shaming people into not having sex doesn't work, and there are 6 billion people on this planet to prove that.

Teens, how old are you and how old do you feel?

Im a 17 year old girl and and feel more 15 or 16. Is this a bad thing?

My best friend is 15. We are together all the time and she is my cousin.

I am very mature at times, but yet when im with friends I feel like im in my middle teens yet.

I live in a state where its legal to get into bars soon and I don't even see myself in bars.

I also look only 15 and that could play a part. There are girl 3 or 4 years younger than me that also look older.

How about you?

I had to show my school ID just to get her to believe me!!! that really sucked.

I feel like i am still 12 since i only turned 13 in january and i dont really have alot of clothes from the teen section of stores since i am so small. in size and height. If i find clothes that i like in the teen section they are always a small and all my friends wear mediums. also some of the clothes dont look right on me because if the shirt was made to be cut short and not be longer than my mid drift it would be at my waist. also it doesn't help that i totally lack curves of any kind.

I really dont like it when i look younger than i actually am. my friends act like it is a good thing saying stuff like at least when your older you can hide your true age...or something like that. but oh well its not like i can force mself to change...

Teens facial.....questions....?

im 14 and i just got a facial yesterday for the first time. the lady did an acne facial (since i get alot of acne), and after she was done, there were red/dark spots on my cheeks (prob from blood in skin), but the rest of my face was clear and great. she also pulled a couple blackheads out around my nose and cheeks area.

here are my questions:

1) is it normal to have dark spots after a acne or basic facial?

2) has it ever happened to you when you went to get one?

3) how did u get rid of it?

4) how often do you go for facials and how often should teens go?

...and if you have n e other great info that would be of help to me, then please tell me. i mean i just got my first facial so i wanna get some things rite....thanks so much! and BEST ANSWER GETS 10 PTS!

Teens facial.....questions....?
well the first time i went for facial i didn't have that dark spots you had but my face really turned red because of removal of blackheads. Also going facials is a routine depending on your skin, some goes once every month others every two months so its really on you if how you take care of your face, and look after what you eat..

for tips to becoming acne free

Tip 1. Diet - Your diet not only can affect your weight but also your skin. You want to eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Fresh fruit for breakfast are a great start. And carrots are great for the beta-carotene (vitamin A) that they provide. Also try to eat foods which have a high content of zinc.

ACTeen-Acting for Teens?

I would like to go to NY this summer. Have you ever heard of ACTeen? Is there full scholarships, I can have? If not, I cannot go. It costs too much money. Would I have time for auditions? I would be looking for a couple agents in NY to represent me. That is a main reason why I would go. This camp just looked interesting and a good experience. Is there any other teen scholarship tv/film acting camps out there in NYC? Do you know anyone who has been there? Any personal feedback. Or something else I can do. I am 14, and would be traveling from GA. Thanks!

Teens vs. adults?

you know how some adults complain about "teenagers today?" they say that teens today are too hooked on electronics like ipods and video games and the computer....and that we all smoke, drink, and do drugs all the time. but isn't it at least somewhat the fault of the adults? we werent born being more addicted to drugs and the computer than the adults that say this...haven't we in fact been influenced by them?

no rude answers please. im just curious what you think. (and i'm only saying SOME adults so don't get all defensive)

Teens vs. adults?
I'm an adult and I completely agree with you.

Most parents throw their children in front of the tv or computer so they don't have to deal with them.

It's horrible parenting but they don't care.

Also the teenage pregnancy rate is very high, and while teens will do whatever they please, if parents had stood up and put rules in place the children would have listened. It's all about how you raise your children.

It is the fault of the adults. We are role models for the younger and if we are screwed up than the children will be too. With role models like Lohan and Spears I don't know how even some teens are turning out good but it's because they have good parents.
Reply:True if they want us off the computer they should just take it away and they don't want us to drink don't let us see u drink geez is that hard to do lol

Teens - Would you go to traditional discos if they were organised for you?

I know most of the 'going out' is to clubs and pubs, but I've seemed to notice a lack in the traditional type of discos, you know like the ones they have at 18ths, 21sts and at weddings, a combination of dance %26amp; disco music and some slower ones for slow dances. Im thinking of setting up a disco in my local area for people in their mid to late teens, if there was one in your area would you go? Purely as a matter of interest

Thats what we are lacking these days! One of them would be fantastic, give everyone something to do.

Teens, what do you want to do when you are older?

I am stuck. For so long, I was sure that I wanted to go into the medical field when I was older. Now, I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

Do any other teens out there have this same problem. Or, if you're an adult- did you have this problem.

What do you want to do with your life? Or what have you already done with it?

Thanks!

Teens, what do you want to do when you are older?
I'm about to turn 20' I'm a 3rd year college student and I'm the mom of a 27 month old little girl, and I STILL have no clue what I want to do as for a career... Up until last semester I was a Film major, but I changed my mind because I know a lot of people in the entertainment industry and I know that it is very hard to have an kind of work/life balance... Working in the industry as a producer has always been what I wanted to do, now I really don't know what I want... I switched to a Communications major, but I still don't know what kind of career I can get from that... I figure I still have about a year and a half to figure it out!!!
Reply:Yes. I believe that everyone had this problem. It is very difficult to decide how you want to spend the rest of your life. To avoid the typical " I Hate my job " Dilemma think about what you really enjoy doing and wouldn't mind doing all day every day. and even if to you its farfetched you should try cause you never know what will happen.

Good Luck! I hope this helped :}
Reply:I really didn't have a choice. I left school at 16 and started working full time at my dad's insurance agency. When I turned 18 I took the state test and became a licensed agent and now he's going to retire soon and leave me his entire business. I guess if I would have stayed in school and went off to college I would have never had this great opportunity. I am very thankful.
Reply:I am 18 and in college and I still really don't know what I want to do. But that is what college for, you can take classes that intrest you and then decide what you really like.. So just make sure your first year at college your get your pre-reqs out of the way and take some electives.. It should help you out alot.. Bets of luck!
Reply:Right now, I'm in college, working towards my Bachelor's in Adolescent-Young Adult Education. I'm only a freshman and I've changed my major twice (Communications, Psychology), but I am set now on becoming a high school science teacher! =]
Reply:Most people when they go to college and are a little more free find that what they have always thought they wanted in life is nothing like what they really want. Most collegiate students who have planned majors going into college, change before completing their degree.
Reply:i plan to major in forensic science. so i would be a forensic scientist or a forensic science technician. i have been wanting to do that for years and i am
Reply:well, i'm 14, so i don't know if this'll really help all that much, but whenever i was younger, i wanted to be a teacher. then as i got older, i wanted to go into the medical field also. now that i'm older again, i want to be an english teacher. i think you never really know what you wanna be. it'll just come to you one day. like now, i'm pretty sure i'm sticking with the english teacher thing.
Reply:No I don't, I found what I want to do, Marine Combat Pilot, and build my own house
Reply:I want to grow up, get my teaching degree, get married, have kids, and get my master's in school administration, and become a principal of a school, in that order
Reply:So you changed what you want to do in life.

That's fine!

When I was little, I wanted to be a politition so I could help cities be more "green" and have more trees. (I was 5.)

I changed my job choice to author at age 9. And now, I'm not sure if that is best for me either.

I'll choose something that fits me.

Don't worry. You'll find something.
